Extension Lecture on Life Skills and Stress Management held at KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised an extension lecture on Life Skills and Stress Management in collaboration with Art of Living (NGO) for the hostel students on September 3, 2024.

Mr. Ajay Khosla from the NGO was the guest speaker of the event. He deliberated upon the issues pertaining to routine life and stress points. He emphasised upon the need master  life skills to deal with the challenges of  life. He discussed the Action-Reaction theory and highlighted how stress  impacts our mental health negatively. He also shared some tips on stress free life. The lecture concluded with an interactive session where in the queries of the students were answered effectively by the speaker.  

The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal applauded the efforts of Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Hostel Incharge and Head of Physical Education Department for the initiative.

KCW Bags Top Positions in PU in M.Sc. Maths

Proving their mettle once again, students of PG Department of Mathematics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana aced the examination of M.Sc. Mathematics (Semester IV), conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh in May, 2024. Rattandeep Kaur stood third in Panjab University and first in college by securing 88.85 %. Taniya Arora stood fourth in P.U. and second in college by securing 88.5% and Ravnoor Kaur stood third in college by securing 84.4%. The overall result is 100%.

Position holders gave the credit of their success to regular studies and efforts put by them and the teachers. College Managing Committee congratulated Principal, staff & students for their outstanding performance and maintaining the legacy. Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Kamaljit Kaur wished them good luck for their future.

Extension lecture on “Simple ways of reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment”

Eco club, Khalsa College for Women civil lines, Ludhiana organized an Extension lecture on “Simple ways of reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment”. The Resource person was Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jalota, (Senior project officer) waste, development and south-east compliance Team, Department of environment science and innovation, Brisbane Australia. The lecture highlighted the key points of reducing carbon emissions by utilizing available resources and traditional knowledge and emphasized the students about the importance of compost for decomposing organic waste which will serve as the promising solution for dealing with the heaps of garbage in the cities.  Students of B.Sc. Medical were made aware about small recycling practices which will the uplift the current situation of mother earth. Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, Director Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appraised the efforts of members of Eco Club to organize such a informative lecture which is need of an hour.

FUN AND FROLIC MARK FRESHERS PARTY AT KCW

Freshers party is the moment when all the seniors whole heartedly and joyfully welcome their juniors. Fun, frolic and rejuvenation marked the Freshers party organized by the departments of Computer Science and Business Management at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. The mesmerizing music, songs, flash freezing lights and the exuberant students were the defining moments in the party.

The show was a blend of cultural items and foot tapping performances. The gala event of the day “Ramp Modeling” by the students of First year was judged by Ms.Sabina Bhalla,Dr Priyaka Khanna, Dr Reema Sharma . The results of the same are:

Department of Physics Celebrates National Space Day, August 23, 2024

The Department of Physics at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, proudly celebrated National Space Day on August 23, 2024. This event provided a remarkable opportunity to inspire and educate students about space exploration and innovation. The day featured several engaging activities, including an innovation speech at the assembly stage that encouraged students to think creatively about the future of space technology.

“Poster presentations have been prominently showcased within the physics department’s corridors, serving as a dynamic platform for highlighting groundbreaking research, cutting-edge ideas, and emerging trends in the field of physics. Additionally, a PowerPoint Presentation Competition took place, where participants showcased their understanding of space science and technology through compelling slideshows.

The winners of the PowerPoint Presentation Competition were Navneet Kaur B.Sc III, who secured the First Prize; Inayat B.Sc.I, who earned the Second Prize and Jaspreet Kaur B.Sc I, bagged the Third Prize.

The event was successfully spearheaded by the college’s esteemed leadership: Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, director; Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal, principal; and Dr. Charita Mehta, convener. Their support and encouragement were instrumental in the success of National Space Day, which saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members alike. The celebration not only highlighted the wonders of space but also fostered a scientific mindset among students, deepening their understanding of the universe and the possibilities beyond our planet.

KCW Students Shine in M.A. (Political Science), Panjab University Exam

Naina and Sheela Garg from Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college by bagging first and second position respectively in MA(Political Science) 4th semester Panjab University Exams held in May ,2024. Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal and Director Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated and applauded them and the teachers.

खालसा कॉलेज फॉर वूमेन मे संस्कृत शब्दावली प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन

दिनांक 22 अगस्त 2024 को खालसा कॉलेज फॉर वूमेन सिविल लाइंस लुधियाना के संस्कृत विभाग द्वारा संस्कृत दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में “संस्कृत शब्दावली प्रतियोगिता” का आयोजन किया गया । कार्यक्रम के आरंभ में  छात्राओं को संस्कृत दिवस की बधाई दी गई और उन्हें संस्कृत दिवस कब और क्यों मनाया जाता है इस  विषय से परिचित कराया गया । ” संस्कृत शब्दावली प्रतियोगिता” में संस्कृत विभाग की 24 छात्राओं ने भाग लिया । छात्राओं ने संस्कृत भाषा के अद्वितीय शब्द भंडार में से अनेक शब्दों को लिखकर इस प्रतियोगिता में अपने शब्द ज्ञान का परिचय दिया ।सबसे अधिक शब्दों को लिख कर पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाली‌ छात्राओं के नाम इस प्रकार  हैं- प्रथम पुरस्कार- पूजा (बीए तृतीय वर्ष ),

द्वितीय पुरस्कार -मोनी (बीए तृतीय वर्ष) तथा तृतीय पुरस्कार- पूजा (बीए द्वितीय वर्ष ) ने प्राप्त किया ।

कॉलेज  निर्देशक डॉ मुक्ति गिल जी तथा प्रिंसिपल डॉ कमलजीत ग्रेवाल जी ने छात्राओं को संस्कृत दिवस की बधाई देते हुए संस्कृत भाषा के शब्दकोश के विभिन्न शब्दों को जानने के उनके प्रयास की सराहना की और उन्होंने छात्राओं को ऐसे ही संस्कृत भाषा के शब्द ज्ञान को संवर्धित करने  की प्रेरणा दी।

KCW students achieved positions in M.A (FINE ARTS) 4 th semester 2024

The students of Khalsa College for women, civil lines, ludhiana have achieved outstanding result in M.A 4th  semester result which were declared by panjab university  . Three students of the college placed their names in top five university positions, Shreya Jain has bagged 2nd  university position by scoring 1515/1600 marks (94.6%), Bhumika Arora has bagged 3rd position in university with 1506/1600 marks (94.1%) and Ishita Jaidka has been placed 4th position in university with 1505/1600 marks (94%). All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The prestigious managing committee congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal and Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Director) and the staff of the Fine Arts deptt, for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of  the college in clinching top university positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights.

Teeyan Da Mela held at KCW

The Corridors resonated with laughter and traditional beats as Khalsa College for Women, Civil
Lines Ludhiana celebrated ‘Teeyan Da Mela: Raunak Dheeyan Di’ to mark Teej Festival
pursuing Punjabiyat fervor around the surroundings on August 16, 2024.The post graduate
department of Punjabi organised the show that was marked with an array of cultural & heritage
handicrafts, traditional utensils, Bagh, phulkari, Darian, Sandhookh and traditional ornaments
etc. Sealing the attention of the guests and students the real image of Punjabiyat was framed
with decorated Charkhas and Pakhis. Students also participated in various competitions such as
phulkari, mehandi art, mitti de khidone, tokri making, khido and Gudian Patole among others.
Ms.Kritika Goyal, IAS, presently serving as SDM Payal, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest of the
Event. The cultural extravaganza was also graced by prominent personalities of the College
Management Committee, Madam Dr. Ajit Kang, Dr. Raminder Grewal, Madam Kushal Dhillon,
Madam Ravinder Kaur. Director Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill and retired teachers from different faculties
were among the esteemed guests of the day. College Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal extended a
warm welcome to the guests of the day. While addressing the audience Dr. Narinderjeet Kaur,
Head of Punjabi Department said that it is the need of the hour to make the young generation
aware about their cultural heritage and tradition. The institute organizes such events every year
to connect our youngsters to their heritage. Girls wearing Traditional Punjabi Dresses, Paranda,
and Jewellery, were the center of attraction.
The occasion was thoroughly beamed with the presence of celebrities. Pal Singh Smao, director
and coach of Giddha was the special guest. He mesmerized the audience with his performance.
Ms Parmita Bhogal from Spain was also among the special guests of the event. Our esteemed
alumna Dr.Harinder Hundal, Technical Assistant at Punjabi University, Patiala also graced the
event. She enthralled the audience with Punjabi folk songs. The college students performed
brilliantly presenting powerful Giddha along with other cultural items.
The stunning and illustrious stalls were put up in the college adding flavour to the occasion.
Stalls of bangles, traditional ornaments, clothes and cosmetics along with stalls of matka kulfi,
lime soda with many other delicacies of punjabi culture were adorned with the motive to
magnify the cultural Heritage of Punjab. The event offered variety of foods along with famous
Dishes of Saawan Season – Mal Poore, Kheer, Jalebi & Pakoras, which were enjoyed by the
youngsters. The students got a chance to get acquainted with and appreciate the traditional
handicrafts. They also enjoyed the Swings along with fun sports such as kikli, rope skipping,
kokla chapaki, geete khedna, shatapu etc. The fragrance of fun and enjoyment pervaded in the
atmosphere and it created some everlasting memories.
Madam Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, applauded the role of the organizers of the show and
admired the energetic participation of the guests and the students and strengthened all of them to
continue the journey for a social cause by building up Punjabiyat among the students. The event
turned out to be a memorable one and gave it the shade of grand family celebrations.

Celebrations on Independence Day

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Ludhiana, celebrated Independence day with great zeal
and fervour. Celebrations were carried out in the college campus on 15 th August, 2024.
NSS, NCC volunteers along with hostel students with teaching and non-
teaching staff enthusiastically participated in the event. The Principal Dr. Kamaljit
Grewal hoisted the national flag and encouraged students to express their vision for a
developed India. Students sang patriotic songs and recited poetry expressing their love for the
nation. Stories of the grit and valour of freedom fighters were also shared with the students.
The event concluded with the beats national and sweets were distributed among everyone to
increase the joy of freedom.
