Celebration of Independence Day (14-08-2024)

The Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a poster-making competition on the occasion of Independence Day, under the theme “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

The event, held on August 14, aimed to instil patriotism and encourage students to express their vision for a developed India. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, creating vibrant posters that showcased their creativity and imagination.

The judged appreciated the innovative ideas and artistic skills displayed by the students.

Principal Dr.Kamaljit Grewal congratulated the winners and emphasized the significance of Independence Day, urging students to contribute to the nation’s growth and development.

The event concluded with a patriotic poem, declamation, followed by a patriotic song and a pledge to strive for a better India.

National Library Day Marked at KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana observed National
Library Day in the college campus on August 12, 2024. The day is
marked after the birthday of the Father of Library science Dr. S R
Ranganathan for his notable contribution to the library science. The
students were apprised about the importance of library and books. They
were encouraged to visit library and inculcate a habit of reading books.
The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal motivated the students to have
curiosity about knowledge and spend time in library to update and enrich
themselves. Incharge of Library Dr. Narinderjeet Kaur and Dr. Prabhleen
Toor among the other staff members were present at the event

Workshop on “ How to crack CAT”

Career Coaching Cell of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana In collaboration with Ludhiana District Administration under the initiative of“ Ek Prayaas” NGO organized a workshop “ How to crack CAT” on 9th august 2024. The resource person Mr. Sony Goyal an alumnus of the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad is a career counselor, management consultant and a motivational speaker. Around 80 students from BBA department participated enthusiastically in the thought provoking interactive session. Through his motivational lecture and inspiring stories he dwelt upon the need of goal setting and persistent learning to enjoy success as a journey and not just final destination. He abreast the students with the various techniques to prepare for the CAT exam. He told the students about the project “Punjab 100” with the mission to get 100 girls from Punjab into IIMs in next three years and motivated them to be a part of this project. The session aimed at making students to look into the opportunities they can conquer as management professionals. Through an active PowerPoint presentation he discussed the importance of having a relaxed and confident approach towards achieving the big goals in life. At the end He took up the quarries of the students and suggested practical measures to overcome the challenges.

The college Director Dr. Mrs Mukti Gill and Principal Dr.Kamaljit Grewal  applauded the efforts of the Career Coaching Cell  and encouraged the students to attend such sessions to stay updated and informed to achieve success in their career.

Hostel Orientation Programme for 1st Year students held at KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, along with KIMT and Malwa Khalsa Education College, organised an orientation cum Interaction program for the new students of the Hostel on August 9, 2024. The objective of the program was to inform the students about the rules and regulations to be observed by them during their stay in the hostel. They were also familiarised with the hostel mess, free gym facility and T.V, library and study rooms. The students were also briefed about the anti-ragging policy of the institutes and were advised not to indulge in any such practices, which will be dealt with strictly. They were also advised to make optimum use of the facilities and work towards fulfilling their ambitions.

The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, addressed the students from all three institutes and encouraged them to maintain discipline and inculcate values such as unity and integrity that will help them to stay together. She further motivated them to share ideas and exchange knowledge to empower one another. The event was graced by Dr. Harpreet, Director KIMT, Dr. Sona Thakur, Hostel incharge B.ed College and other senior staff members.  The event was organised by Hostel Incharge Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Head Department of Physical Education of KCW.

Rotract Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an awareness campaign “Swachhta Sakhis”

Rotract Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana has organized
an awareness campaign “Swachhta Sakhis” on the Menstrual Hygiene on 09-08-
2024 in which the members of the club sensitized the students about this important
issue. Around the world, millions of adolescent girls, women and others who
experience menstrual cycle lack access to safe sanitation. Without this basic
resource, it is impossible for them to manage their menstruation in a hygienic way.
So keeping this in mind, Rotract Club of the college in collaboration with the Nine
Foundation distributed Sanitary napkins to the students and other female helping
staff of the college. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljeet Kaur Grewal appreciated the
efforts of the club and thanked Nine foundation for this noble and courteous
initiative.

HUNAR DEGA PEHCHAAN 2024- TALENT HUNT CONTEST

The Departments of Music Vocal, Instrumental and Psychology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised Hunar Dega Pehchaan 2024 – TALENT HUNT CONTEST on 7th August2024 to showcase the hidden talent of students. 

The students’ enthusiastic engagement from all of the streams was the program’s high point.
About 31 aspiring artists from the college received life skill training and the chance to refine their talent and communication abilities through  stage exposure. The performers sang, played a variety of instruments, and exhibited their skill at anchoring, captivating the audience. The youngsters performed lovely songs and demonstrated their skill on a variety of instruments, including the tabla,  harmonium, xylophone and Keyboard.

The young anchors hosted the event as they participated in the Talent Hunt contest. Mrs. Sumedha Wadhwa, former Head, Department of Music Instrumental and Dr. Prabhleen Toor, Department of English   were the judges for the event. The results were as follows: Singing Contest- Manpreet Kaur (BA 1), Aditri Arora (BA 1) and Ramneek Kaur (BA 2) took away 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively; Instrument playing Contest  Bishanpreet Kaur (BA 1) and Manjot Kaur (BA 2) bagged 1st  and 2nd  prize respectively; and Anchoring Contest – Aamiya Jain (BA 2) and Tanisha (BA 2)  secured 1st and 2nd prize respectively whereas 3rd prize was jointly shared by Shagun Singh (BBA 2) and Bhumika Gupta (BA 2).

The college Director Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill and Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal congratulated the prize winners. They expressed appreciation for the efforts made by  the  faculty members and students, highlighting the need of identifying and developing students’ potential and preparing them for life’s challenges.

KCW students achieved position in M.A FINE ARTS 2nd Semester 2024

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding result in M.A 2nd Semester , which was declared by Panjab University on 2nd August, 2024. One student of the college placed her name in Top five University Positions .Anamika Gupta has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 385/400 marks (96%).All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal and Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Director) and the staff of the Fine Arts Deptt. for their sincere efforts in generating excellent result. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights.

Khalsa College for Women’s Physics Department Organizes Electricity Conservation Awareness Drive Ludhiana, 3rd August 2024.

The Physics Department at Khalsa College for Women in Civil Lines, Ludhiana, has started
Electricity Conservation Awareness Drive that will run throughout the week. This drive is
part of the college’s effort to support both academic excellence and environmental
responsibility. The purpose of the drive is to encourage students and the community to save
electricity. The event stressed upon the importance of using less energy to help fight climate
change and protect natural resources. Participants were advised to follow easy energy-saving
tips, like turning off lights and appliances when not in use, using energy-efficient products,
and spreading the word about saving energy. Principal, Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Grewal,
highlighted the importance of this drive. She said, “This drive aims to give students the
knowledge and habits they need to make a positive environmental impact.” The event ended
with participants pledging to adopt energy-saving habits, showing their commitment to
sustainable environment.

Orientation Programme held at KCW

The Parents Teacher Association and the IQAC of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised an orientation programme and Parent-Teacher Meet for the students of  first year on August 2, 2024 in the college auditorium. The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal accorded a warm welcome to the parents invited to attend the session with their wards.

The students and Parents were informed about New Education Policy (NEP 2020) its structure and curriculum. They were further apprised about the college and its Academic, Sports and Cultural achievements through a power point presentation. A virtual tour to the various clubs and  cells was given to the students encouraging them to join and tap into their creative potential. The students were also  apprised about various aspects of learning- including Library rules and other parameters they are expected to follow in terms of their attendance and performance in the respective areas. They were introduced to the heads of various departments.

 College Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal  motivated the students to make best use of their time. She further encouraged them to explore their inner potential so as to scale new heights in life. She also added that the college is committed to hone their skills and enhance employability while educating them.  The event culminated with the beats of national anthem.

KCW Student Shines in PU in BSc 1 Examination

Proving their mettle once again, students of KCW, Civil Lines, Ludhiana
aced the examination of B.Sc. (Semester I), conducted by Panjab
University, Chandigarh. Satya Aggarwal bagged third position in Panjab
University, second in the district and stood first in college by securing
92% marks. She has also scored 100% marks in Mathematics.
Husanpreet Kaur stood second in college by scoring 87% marks.
Simarnjot Kaur stood third in college by scoring 86.1% marks. Purvi
Sodhi has secured 99% marks in Mathematics. Success of students like
them also inspire the other students to achieve the higher standard of
academic. Position holders gave the credit of their success to regular
studies and efforts put by them and the teachers. Management
committee congratulated Principal, staff & students for their
commendable success and maintaining the legacy of the college.
