COACHING CLASSES FOR PREPARATION OF COMPETITIVE EXAMS

The Career Coaching Cell of The Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana started the weekly coaching classes for the preparation of various competitive exams. The purpose of these classes is to enhance the employability skills and to provide a direction to the students on the choice of various professional careers and job avenues. The program aims to help the students to develop competence in logical reasoning and mental ability.

In an introductory lecture, the resource person Mr. Gaurav Arora (Tehsil Welfare Officer), apprised the students of various upcoming competitive exams to get jobs in various banking and non- banking sectors. He also emphasized on minute details which are particular to various exams as well as the level of preparation required to crack these exams.

The program received an overwhelming response as under graduate and post graduate students from various departments participated enthusiastically. The college managing committee and principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the Career Coaching Cell for organizing these classes and stressed on the need for the continuous upgradation to have an edge in the highly competitive job market.

 

KCW GIRLS SHINES IN PU MERIT LIST IN M.A ENGLISH EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, bagged top positions in MA English-2nd and MA English-4th semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Anjali bagged 8th  position in the University by scoring 69.7% per cent marks in the MA English 2nd sem. Exams while Ankita clinched 7th  position in the Panjab University by scoring 64.6% per cent marks in the MA English-4th sem. Exams.

The students of the Department of English were elated at the success in the university exams. Expressing happiness they added that it is the hard work and constant support of their dedicated faculty members coupled with the blessings provided by their parents and the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill played an important role in  their success.

Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill congratulated the staff of English Department for their sincere efforts in generating stupendous results. She applauded the students for clinching top university positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

 

‘WELKOM FIESTA 2018’ AT KCW

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized a magnificent fresher’s welcome party, “WELKOM FIESTA 2018” for the 1st year students of Humanities on 25th August 2018 in the college campus. Jovial Smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the students. The party manifested youth and enthusiasm at its full flow. The ecstasy filled event gave the freshers an opportunity to showcase their talent and also a platform to interact with their seniors. The event saw many dazzling Performances by both seniors and juniors alike. The programme Kick-Started with ramp walk in which many contestants vied for the Miss Fresher’s 2018 title. The contest included several rounds including ramp walk and question answer round which wave magic of fun and joy into the event.

Miss Nandini won Miss Fresher’s title. Besides there were five other titles accorded to the students. Miss Simarpreet Kaur won the 1st Runner up and the 2nd Runner up title went to Miss Drishti Chopra. The title of Miss Beautiful Smile was given to Miss Simran. Miss Ishita was crowned Miss Charming.

In the masters category Miss Gurleen was crowned Miss Fresher and the title of Miss Charming was bestowed upon Miss Sakshi.

The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill blessed the students and encouraged them to work hard to achieve their endeavours. Finally the programme ended on a musical note, leaving behind memories to cherish forever.

Act of Generosity by NSS team

Moved by the devastation and human suffering of such magnitude by worst floods in Kerala, some volunteers from NSS team took initiative of collecting relief fund from all the students. They motivated them by narrating the various incidents like Wing Commander Prashanth handing over baby to his anxious mother, Commander Vijay Verma saving pregnant Woman, Kerala fishermen turning saviours, hostel girls rescued by IAF Helicopter. The students got emotional. Some of them decided not to go to canteen for a few days and donated generously. Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff & IV class employees also contributed for this noble cause.

Later, as per requirement by Flood relief Agencies, 192 footwear (ladies, gents & children), 25 sets of Tarpaulin and 30 big size mosquito nets were sent for flood-victims. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the effort made by NSS volunteers and NSS programme officers.

“Celebrating Rakhi in its True Spirit”

Celebrating rakhi in its true spirit, the volunteers of Synapse, the Community Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana paid a visit to Vocational Rehabilitation Center. This innovative programme was organized under the guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill. The Synapse angels tied rakhies on the wrists of the students and interacted with them.  They were also offered sweets and chocolates. The volunteers organized fun games and recreational activities and gave gifts to the participants.  Ms. Manpreet Kaur from the department of Psychology interacted with the students and motivated them to achieve the goals of their life.

Free Check up Camp at KCW by Women Cell

Women Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana organized a free check up camp on 24th August, 2018 in collaboration with Code Fitness Premium(GYM) as part of its drive for good health. The activity was carried out to make the students aware of their health. The students, teaching and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically and got full body check up done on INBODY 770 machine. Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the effort and encouraged the Women Cell for organising the event.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN M.COM

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.Com 4th  semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh on 21st August, 2018. Radhika stood 6th in the University and first in the college by scoring 81.32% per cent marks. Harmeet Kaur (80.25%) stood second and Jaspreet Kaur Grewal (79.14%) Stood third in college. 42 students appeared and all attained first division.

Topper of the college, Radhika attributed her success to her hard work and punctuality. She also thanked the faculty members of the Department of Commerce, her parents and the college Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill for their support and blessings.

KCW GIRLS SHINES IN PU MERIT LIST IN FINE ARTS PU EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana once again proved their mettle by scoring top positions in MA Fine Arts-4th semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh.

In the 4th semester MA results, four students of the college have placed their names in top ten university positions. Aishwarya Sehdev bagged 1st position in the University by scoring 92.5 per cent mark. Gagandeep  stood 6th  in the university by scoring 88.3 per cent marks while Jasjot Kaur clinched 7th  position in the Panjab University by scoring 87.9 per cent marks and Shifali Kapoor  bagged 10th position in the university by scoring 86.1 per cent marks.

The students of the Department of  Fine Arts were elated at the success in the university exams. Expressing happiness they said that hard work of their faculty members coupled with blessings provided by their parents and the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill played an important role in their success.

KCW WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS THROUGH EUPHORIA 2018

Department of Sciences of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana welcomed the science students through ‘Euphoria 2018’ on August 21, 2018. Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill graced the occasion with her eminent presence. First year students walked the walk of confidence and showcased their embellished ethnic wear. The judges for the event were Mrs. Rasil Kaur (Punjabi Deptt.), Mrs. Harminder Kaur (English Department) and Mrs. Harveen (Sociology Deptt.). The students enthralled the audience through their dance performances. They captured the attention of spectators through their swirling feet. Ms. Kamya was crowned Miss Freshers 2018. A first runner up position was grabbed by Ms. Mehak and Ms. Mansi was the second runners up. Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill congratulated the winners and imbibed the students with enthusiasm to work hard and set new benchmarks.

PHYSICS SOCIETY OF KCW ORGANISED EXTENSION LECTURE ON MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSE

An exuberant and interactive extension lecture on “Mysterious Universe: Macro and Micro view” was organised by the Physics society of the Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana on 18th August 2018.The lecture was whipped into shape under the sustentation of Mrs Sangeeta Sharma, HoD of Physics Department. The resource person for imparting immense knowledge about mysterious universe was Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Assistant Professor, PAU, Ludhiana. He in a very artistic manner grabbed all the attention of students and took them to a tour of micro and macro view of universe from big bang theory to formation of nebulas, black holes.  Unveiled the mysteries of matter and anti-matter, how the energy continuously keeps on changing its form and influencing our lives.He acknowledged students about Astro physics and lucrative opportunitiesin the field. Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill thanked the professor for enlightening our young minds and catering to their inquisitness.
