ART EXHIBITION

Fine Arts department of Khalsa college for women, civil lines Ludhiana, organized an art exhibition – CREATIONS 2024, on 19 March 2024 . The event was bejewelled by the auspicious presence of Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur,Director Dr. Mukti Gill & staff members. The artist’s finesse was evident in the beautiful  Vangogh style landscapes, Compositions, Still Life, Life Study, Portrait, Pot Decoration,Recreational art,Lippan Art, Mandala art, Ceramic, Resin work, craft work, Poster making and on the spot paintings. More than 200 works were exhibited . The students of Post- Graduation, Graduation and Add-On students participated in all categories. Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur,Director Dr. Mukti Gill and staff of the college acknowledged the budding artists and applauded the role of participating students .They congratulated the Fine Arts department for their outstanding efforts.

Outstanding Achievements in the One-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Fashion Designing First Semester Results – December,2023

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh, proudly announces the fantastic results of the One-Year Post Graduate Diploma in Fashion Designing, First Semester exams held in December, 2023.

The faculty members of the Fashion Designing Department have played a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring the students. Their continuous support and encouragement have contributed to the overall success of the program.

“The Power of Peels ” organised by Eco Club

Eco Club, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana in collaboration with Switch for
Change foundation organized a Workshop “The Power of Peels”on kitchen waste management to
mark the Global Recycling day Which is celebrated every year on 18 th of March.The major focus
of this day is on three R’s that is Reduce , Recycle and Reuse leading to sustainable
management. The technical know how was given by Mr. Baldeep Singh on how to prepare the
bioenzymes and further the compost from the peels and dry leaves, hence recycling the waste.
Students of undergraduate classes attended the workshop and were made aware regarding
recycling the kitchen waste. Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur applauded the efforts of club members to
organize such a informative workshop which would help to solve the menace of the waste.

KCW students achieved position in M.A (FINE ARTS) 3 th Semester 2024

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding
results in M.A. 3 th Semester results of which were declared by Punjab University on 11
march 2024. Five students of the college placed their names in Top five University Positions.
Ishita jaidka has bagged 1 st University Position by scoring 385/400 marks (96.2%), Shreya
Jain has been placed 3 rd position in University with 381/400 marks (95.2%), Mehak Singh,
Simran and Bhumika Arora got 4 th Position in University with 379/400 marks (94.7%). All
other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks.
The prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur
and Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Director) and the staff of the Fine Arts Dept. for their sincere
efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the
tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to
continue to scale greater heights.

Proud moment for KCW- Mrs. Sheetal Soi awarded “BEST PROGRAMME OFFICER”

KCW, Red Ribbon Club, Nodal officer, Mrs. Sheetal Soi received Award of Honour
for Best Programme Officer from Ludhiana district. This award is presented in the
ocassion of State level Programme 2023-24 organised by Directorate of Youth
Services Punjab in collaboration with Punjab state AIDS Control Society held at
Amity University, Mohali. 
Vedehi Dhir, a student of BSC III also got best Peer Educator Award in this event.
 Director Dr. Mukti Gill and College Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur congratulated the
winners.

Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign in KCW

KCW Counselling Cell organised an Anti -Drug Awareness Drive on 13th March, 2024 for all the
students of the college. A paragraph writing activity on the topic “Say No To Drugs And Yes To Life”
was carried out under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by Indian Government aims to raise
awareness about substance abuse among youth in India, with a particular focus on higher
education institutes, university campuses, schools, and community engagement. 
The students were required to formulate a paragraph on the topic, discussing how drug abuse
is harmful for health and how it can have a devastating impact on their lives and how to overcome
these addictions. 370 students participated in this activity and uploaded their written paragraphs as
a mark of solidarity against abuse of drugs. The respective tutors discussed the detrimental aspects
of addiction and drug abuse with the students.
Moreover, the volunteers of Counselling Cell presented various brochures with detailed information
regarding the prevalence and prevention of drug abuse in the community.
The Principal appreciated the efforts of the Counselling Cell in creating awareness against drugs and
helping the students create an environment which is drug free and inspire students to say no to
drugs when offered in any form.

Documentary Making Competition held at KCW

The Department of Economics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines,
Ludhiana organized an intra- college Documentary Making Competition “JAGO
GRAHAK JAGO” on 15 March, 2024. The objective of the programme was to
mark World Consumer Rights Day, while enriching students’ knowledge and
enabling them to tap into their creative potential. The theme of the Day was
Fair and Responsible AI (Artificial Intelligence) for Consumers.
Around 15 students from various streams participated in the competition. The
judges of the competition were Ms. Harveen Kaur (HOD, Department of
Sociology) and Ms. Ramandeep Kaur (HOD, Department of History). The
students showcased their creative talent exploring various themes such as
Frauds and online Scams, Protecting consumer rights against deep fakes and
Misinformation, Darker side of AI and many more. The students were
evaluated on different parameters in terms of their performance.
Gurpreet Kaur and Gunika from B.com I bagged first prize ,while Jiya and Ishika
Kaushal from BA II and Taranpreet Kaur and Ishita Bagga from BA III secured
second and third positions respectively.
The college Principal applauded the efforts of Department of Economics for
making this event a success.

Conclusion of Seven Days  NSS Special Camp at KCW

The National Service Scheme (NSS) 7 days special camp at Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, ludhiana concluded on a high note with a vibrant cultural programme on the last day. The event served as a culmination of the week-long camp, celebrating the spirit of community engagement, social responsibility, and cultural diversity. Students showcased a variety of cultural performances representing different regions and traditions, including dance (Bhangra, Haryanvi dance and Rajasthani dance), music, skit and poem recitations. Through their performances, students conveyed messages of Clean surroundings,and paid tribute to our Martyrs who selflessly sacrificed their precious lives to free our motherland under the umbrella of” MERI MATI MAERA DESH” .Young women volunteers represented (Rani Lakshmi Bai,Ahilyabai Holkar,Sarojini Naidu) who were brave and intellectual Women who resisted the British Rule and have contributed in reforming society . Principal of the college Dr. Iqbal Kaur conveyed her message with  genuine appreciation.She lauded the efforts of the program officers Mrs. Vibha Jain, Mrs. Mandeep Arora and Dr. Sonia Mala for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in making the camp a resounding success.With eyes alight with passion, She emphasized the profound impact of the values learned during the camp, urging each individual to embrace and embody these principles in their daily lives. The event proceeded  with the” Prize Distribution ” segment. Various prizes were given away in different categories. In the slogan writing competition( Meri Mati Mera Desh) first prize was won by -Anjali Shukla and Preeti Diwakar .Slogan writing competition  under the theme of Swachh Bharat first – Ishita Aggarwal, second – Asha , Third – Jasmine and Gungun. Poster making competition under the theme Meri Mati Mera Desh Naina rana  and Asha kumari stood first. Second prize was won by Puneet . Poster making competition under the theme of swachh Bharat first prize was won by Aarti Kumari , second prize went to Renu, and third prize winner was lupika. In the essay writing competition Neha Kaushik stood first, Ishita Aggarwal stood second,third prize winner was Shubhi Jain.In best out of waste competition (Sushma,Renu and lupika) took away the first prize,(Ishita Aggarwal , Simran, kashish, Muskan) stood second, (Asha kumari and Naina Rana) stood third. The best volunteer award was won by Anjali Shukla. The cultural programme served as a memorable conclusion to the NSS camp, leaving a lasting impression on participants and reinforcing the importance of community service and cultural enrichment.

NSS unit of KCW organised Free health care Medical camp

On March 13,2024 ,  The NSS ( National service scheme) unit of Khalsa College for Women,
Civil lines, ludhiana organised a” Free health care Medical camp” as a part of their 7 days
special camp. The Medical Camp was conducted by a Team of “CMC Medical College and
Hospital” . The medical camp offered a range of services including : Dermatology
represented  by Dr. Aaron Alex Abraham (MBBS intern) and Dr. Inderpreet Kaur (MBBS ,
MD, DNB (DERMATOLOGY and LEPROSY)) ,Ophthalmology represented by Dr. Alexis
Varghese , Physiotherapy represented by Dr. Osheen Bhandari (MPT sports, Assistant
professor) along with the Medical representative team headed by Mr. Naveen lohan. In
addition to these services,  Dentists Dr. Swati and Dr. Avneet from the Clove lab were also
present .Mr. Mukesh from Max lab  also examined the sugar level and cholesterol of the
visitors. Different teams  of NSS volunteers were assisting the medical team. In a
heartwarming gesture of appreciation, Principal of the college Dr.Iqbal Kaur extended a
warm welcome to the dedicated medical team and expressed profound gratitude for their
invaluable contribution to the well-being of the community.  Director  of Khalsa Institutes   Dr.
Mukti Gill  was also present there . She appreciated the efforts of NSS volunteers,
applauding their unwavering spirit of volunteerism and tireless efforts in organizing and
facilitating the medical camp. The success of the medical camp underscores the
commitment of the NSS team and Khalsa College for women to serve the community and
address healthcare disparities.

Fashion Show “Glam Girlz” held  at KCW

The Fashion Designing Department and Beauty and Wellness department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a fashion show titled Glam Girls 2024.  The budding fashion designers showcased their artistic and creative expression in the ten rounds. The varied rounds were  based on the themes such as Barbie, Supernova, Cultural fusion, Jungle theme, Ethnic, Day & Night, Indo-western and upcycling. The event promoted the use of environment friendly and socially responsible methods of production. Ms. Sangeeta, Head Department of Physics, Ms Saravjit Kaur, Head Department of Political Science and Ms. Sabina Bhalla, Head Department of English were the judges of the day.

The winners of the fashion show were: the best designer was clinched by Kirandeep Kaur for Barbie theme, Manpreet Kaur was declared the second runner up for upcycling theme and Sonali bagged first runner up for jungle theme. The best makeup artist  was given to Gurleen while best hairstylist was clinched by Salwinder.  Garima Seth was adjudged the best model and Gurdeep Kaur bagged the prize for best theme.

The Principal Dr.Iqbal Kaur congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the organisers of the show.
