A Webinar on ’What Next After Graduation’ held at KCW

The Department of Economics Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, in collaboration with SIEC Education, Ludhiana, organized an Interactive session ’What Next After Graduation’ on 13 march 2024. The objective of the program was to guide the students about various career opportunities available after graduation and how to prepare for the challenges in terms of career designing and job opportunities. As many as 70 students from various streams attended the session. The resource persons Ms.Amarpreet Kaur and Ms.Nashdeep Kaur interacted with the students about the importance of developing communication skills. She also guided the students about choosing the right career and work on goal setting and time management to be successful in life. In the concluding session the queries of the students were taken up.

The Principal Dr.Iqbal Kaur applauded the efforts of Economics Department for conducting such an insightful and interactive session.

KCW students achieved position in M.A (FINE ARTS) 1ST Semester 2024

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A.  Ist Semester results of which were declared by Punjab University on 11 march 2024. Two students of the college placed their names in Top five University Positions. Asha  kumari has bagged 4th  University Position by scoring 365/400 marks (91.2%), Anjali Shukla has been placed 5th  position in University with 364/400 marks (91%).All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 85% marks. The   prestigious managing Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Iqbal Kaur and Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Director) and the staff of the Fine Arts Deptt.  for their  sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights.

Inter-Class Paper Presentation competition

The Department of Music Vocal and Instrumental at Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised an engaging Interclass PowerPoint Presentation and Paper Presentation Competition. The event, held on March 13th, 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from around 10 talented students.

The competition showcased a diverse range of topics, including “Naad: Exploring the Essence of Sound in Music,’ The Sitar Virtuous : Pt. Ravi Shankar’s Musical Legacy “Dadra Taal: Rhythmic Splendour in Music”, ‘Manch Pradarshan,”Doordarshan”-a medium in the propagation of Indian classical music and more, reflecting the rich tapestry of musical exploration among the students.

Distinguished judges Dr. Harpreet Kaur and *Ms. Aditi Singla provided valuable insights through their lecture and Power Point Presentation, emphasising the importance of research in music. Their words resonated with the audience, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the subject matter.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the worthy Principal Dr Iqbal Kaur, who shared words of wisdom and encouragement with the participants. Her support further underscored the significance of such initiatives in fostering academic and creative growth among students.

The primary objective of the competition was to nurture confidence among students and introduce them to the vibrant field of musicology. By providing a platform for expression and exploration, the Department of Music Vocal and Instrumental aims to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for music among the student community.

The result was as follows :-1st Prize Samiksha (BAII ),2nd Prize Devika Kataria  (BA III)  3rd Prize Jasdeeep Kaur (BAII).In addition, consolation prizes bagged by Bhumika Gupta(BAI) and Sunidhi Bedi(BAI) and appreciation prize was given to Damanpreet Kaur BAII) for anchoring .

Organised NSS 7 days special camp

The National Service Scheme (NSS) 7 days special camp began on March 8, 2024 in Khalsa College for women, Civil lines, ludhiana that  brought together dedicated volunteers committed to making a positive impact on the community.The theme of this seven-day camp is ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Meri Mati Mera Desh’.   The camp was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur . NSS theme song was also sung by nss volunteers.Program Officer Mrs. Vibha Jain read the annual report of (2023 – 2024 ). In the inauguration ceremony of this camp, Principle  Dr. Iqbal Kaur inspired the volunteers to participate enthusiastically in this camp . She also inspired volunteers to inculcate the habit of serving the society in their daily routine .The session was followed by an ” Ice Breaking Session” where Volunteers interacted with Co- volunteer and got to know about each other.Second session of the day was committed with Organising different committee ( Editorial, Discipline,Mess, Management) Volunteers took accountability and Lead The further. The second day of the camp began with Yoga session where NSS Programme Officer welcome MS.Seema Goswami( Assistant professor of physical education department) where she inspires the volunteers to have aim in life and prepared oneself to chase the same.Ms.Seema is an arm wrestler,She have won 5 gold medals and had completed her Mountaineering Summit in 2016 against all hurdles and obstacles in the pay .Volunteers did  meditation and stretching exercises and geared up for the day. The next was AIESEC ( non governmental and not for profit organisation) .The 4 members of the same address about their centre of focus- ” World Cafe” .Cross interaction with new faces, slogans were framed regarding social issues and participation by enthusiastic volunteers made the part energetic.The Second session of the day was followed by lunch break where an Essay writing competition was organised regarding the theme of the camp. The Third day of the camp started with Zumba. Young girls warmed up with its Steps. The day was preceded by Mr.Narendar Kumar ji who is an international gold medalist and 4 Dan black belt from South Korea. He discourse some Martial techniques to young girls. For Self defence which was an informative and enthusiastic session  , volunteers went for the cleanliness drive enacting the theme of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in the institute ground itself  and the second part was organised with Slogan writing and poster making competition.The session was filled with colours of energy,togetherness, harmony and were thrilled for their contribution. March 11 was the day of a visit to Village Sayan kalan where girls visited Village gurudwara to seek blessings thereafter volunteers selflessly drove a cleanliness campaign and served for the need .NSS volunteers made an appearance in Govt.Primary Smart School where young faces of the school learnt from the  NSS volunteers regarding the necessity to keep surroundings clean . Notebooks and candies were distributed to the students of the school. Thereafter plants and saplings were planted with school authorities  followed by rally to the village with slogans to aware the villagers about cleanliness and then partaking in Guru’s langer , and the visit was a learning experience for the volunteers.

Alumni get together ‘Purane Din Naya Safar’ held at KCW

The corridors of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana came alive as it opens its heart and
doors for the alumni with a get together organized by the old students association under the title
‘Purane Din Naya Safar’ at college campus on March 09, 2024. Our esteemed alumna working in
various fields decorated their alma mater with their gracious presence. More than 250 members
registered for the event.
Padma Shri Awardee Mrs. Rajni Bector, founder of Cremica group of companies was the chief guest
of the day. Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, Deputy Director, Higher Education Punjab and President Punjab
Commerce and Management Association and Prof. Dr. Mukesh Kumar Arora Syndicate and Senate
Member, Panjab University, Chandigarh along with our Alumna Dr. Harinder Hundal, Technical
Assistant, Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala were the guests of honor. Sardar
Gursimran Sing Grewal, treasurer, Khalsa Dewan, Madam Kushal Dhillon, Manager Khalsa College
and Director Dr. Mukti Gill were among the guests of the day. Our esteemed alumna, state
awardee, Dr. Rachna Sharma, Chairman, Bal Vikas Trust along with other notable members Mrs
Shruti and Mrs. Rijuta of Old Students Association also graced the event. The chief guest along with
the other esteemed guests were extended a warm welcome on their arrival. The programme kick
started with the shabad gayan. The highlight of the event was KARINDAY, the musical band. Karinday
group presented live concert and mesmerised the audience with their performances. Another
feature was the cultural bonanza presented by the students.
The executive members of old students association were also acknowledged for their constant
support and contribution towards the institute. The alumni shared their experiences and
unforgettable moments of the good old days.
The Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur applauded the efforts of the coordinators Mrs. Saravjit Kaur and Mrs.
Jasbir Kaur, Department of Political Science, for organising the reunion. She also appreciated the
alumni guests for giving back to society contributing in their own unique ways. The day culminated
with photos clicked at selfie corner creating memories together to cherish them later.

KCW Biotechnology students bag top positions in PU

Students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana
have once again earned accolades for the college in Panjab University V th Semester
examinations held in December, 2023 and bagged three positions among top five scorers.
Cherry Gagat bagged the 4 th position in the University by obtaining 459 marks out of 500,
Komal and Jasleen Kaur secured 5 th position in university by obtaining 455 marks. Overall
result of the college is 100%. The toppers attributed their success to hardwork, regular
studies, punctuality coupled with blessings and support of their parents and constant
motivation by the college. The Managing committee of the college congratulated Principal,
Dr. Iqbal Kaur and the staff of Biotechnology department for their sincere efforts in
generating excellent results.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN MSC(IT) 3rd Semester EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved
outstanding results in M.Sc (Information Technology) 3rd semester examinations, results
of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Aarti Kapoor has bagged 1st
position in University by scoring 87.7 per cent marks while Diksha Sharma has clinched
3 rd position in University by scoring 85.78 per cent marks. Harleen Narang has clinched
4 th position in University by scoring 85.73 per cent marks. All the students who appeared
for the exam attained First Division.

Topper of the college, Aarti Kapoor, attributed her success to her hard work and punctuality.
Besides this she remarked, that efforts of her faculty members coupled with the blessings and
support of her parents and the college Principal have played an important role in her success.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN MSC(IT)1st Semester EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved
outstanding results in M.Sc (Information Technology) 1st semester examinations, results of
which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Srishti Chopra has bagged 5 th
position in University by scoring 83.5 per cent marks while Muskan has clinched 7th
position in University by scoring 83 per cent marks. Varsha Pathak has clinched 8 th
position in University by scoring 82.8 per cent marks .All the students who appeared for
the exam attained First Division.

Closing Ceremony of 63rd Annual Athletic Meet Held at KCW

The 63rd Annual Athletic Meet of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana concluded in true sports spirit on March 7, 2024. Members of College Managing Committee Sardarni Ravinder Kaur along with  S. Gursimran Singh Grewal, Treasurer, Khalsa Deewan and  Madam Kushal Dhillon, Manager KCW  presided over the function. Eminent Sports Personality  S. Hardeep Singh Grewal, Hockey Olympian was the chief guest of the day and Mr. Parvesh Chander Sharma, Gold Medalist, Common Wealth Games (Weightlifting) graced the event as Guest of Honor.  Deputy Commissioner , Ludhiana Mrs. Sakshi Sahney along with Ms. Upinderjit Kaur Brar ADC, Ludhiana and S. Rupinder Singh Brar, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana were among the esteemed guests of the day. The guests were accorded a warm welcome by the Director  Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur, entire staff and the students at their arrival in the college premises.

The guest of honour took the salute of the March Past being performed by students pursuing various courses. The participants proved their mettle in various final sports events including 100 mtr. 200mtr. Race, Relay Race, Obstacle Race and Sack Race etc.

Acknowledging the achievements of students in the sports sector Madam Principal, while reading the Annual Report of the college highlighted that KCW stars bagged rich treasures of  33 Gold Medals,  38 Silver and  43 Bronze Medals this year in various sports competitions. She further added that our sportspersons reaped rich dividends in the form of cash prizes of approx. Rs. 1,00,000 in various sports competitions. She expressed immense gratitude to the members of Management of the college for their consistent cooperation in every way. She had a word of appreciation for the consistent efforts put in by Physical Education Department under the stewardship of Dr. Mandeep Kaur (Head of Physical Education Department) and the coaches. She thanked all the guests, for gracing the occasion, sparing their valuable time and making this event a great success.

Addressing the audience, the guest for the occasion discussed the importance of sports, sports culture and discipline in life. He further, said that the commendable achievements made by the students speak volumes of the efforts put in by the Physical Education Department of the college. Acknowledging the budding talents, he awarded accolades to the winners. In an initiative taken by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahney Ludhiana  a campaign I pledge to vote in Lok Sabha Election 2024 was carried out wherein the students and staff took pledge to make use of their right to vote effectively. She also addressed the students on the importance of vote that will  lead to inclusivity  and empowerment of women.

     Towards the culmination of the function, the soul of Panjabi Culture, Giddha and  Bhangra were presented before the audience after which  the Guest announced the closing of Athletic Meet.   Veerpal Kaur, B.A II was declared the Best Athlete of the college and Muskan Rathi, B.A I was declared the Best Player of the year.  The event met its conclusion with the beats of National Anthem.

Commencement of 63rdd Annual Athletic Meet at Khalsa College for Women

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, inaugurated two-day Annual Athletic Meet on March 6, 2024.  Eminent personality Mr. Vikas Thakur, Arjuna Awardee (weightlifting), graced the event as chief guest. Padma Shree Nirmal Rishi, former Head Department of Physical Education was the guest of honor. S.  Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary, Punjab Basketball Association was among the esteemed guests of the day. was among the esteemed guests of the day. The Principal Dr. Iqbal Kaur, the college Managing Committee and the students extended a warm welcome at the arrival of the guests in the college premises. Madam Kushal Dhillon, Member Managing Committee, KCW, also graced the occasion. The meet kick started with the march past by the students. The guest of the occasion by taking the salute of march past and hoisting flag declared  opening of the Athletic Meet. Balloons of various hues rose merrily towards the sky mesmerizing the spectators and spreading the message to the participants to reach for the sky in their efforts.  An oath to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship was also administered by the students. In his address Mr. Vikas Thakur, highlighted the importance of sports in life and added that apart from commemorating victories, sports events also impart lessons on discipline, sportsman spirit and camaraderie. Power packed Zumba and Martial Art show performances were delivered by the students while spreading the message of health and fitness. Student Council also took out a rally observing the theme and objectives of G20 Presidency spreading a message of inculcating values and ethics for sustainable development.

A unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and precision was showcased as participants strove to prove their best in various sports events which included 50-meter race, Spoon and Potato Race, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump, Three-legged race etc. The day was filled with exciting victories.
