Women Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised an extension
lecture on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on the topic Cervical Cancer Prevention,
Screening and HPV Vaccination on 23 rd January, 2025.This initiative emphasized the
importance of health education as a cornerstone of empowering young girls and women.
The keynote speaker, Dr Kavita M. Bhatti, (Professor and Head Department of OBGYN,
CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana), a distinguished expert in women’s health delivered an engaging
and thoughtful address. She underscored the critical role of early detection and prevention in
combating cervical cancer, advocating for regular screenings and the life-saving potential of
HPV vaccination. Her insightful discourse highlighted the need to prioritize women’s
healthcare and foster awareness among young girls about safeguarding their well-being.
The lecture was organised as a part of initiative aimed at empowering the girl child through
education and awareness. The College is committed to supporting this mission and promoting
awareness about crucial health.
The event was attended by students, faculty members of the college, who actively
participated in the discussion and engaged with Dr. Kavita M. Bhatti on various aspects of
cervical cancer prevention, the significance of regular screening and the role of HPV
vaccination in reducing risks.
Principal, Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, lauded the initiative and emphasized the college’s
unwavering dedication to empowering women through education, skill development and
