NCC Cadets of KCW Celebrated National Unity Day

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is observed every year on 31 st October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to honor his pivotal role in fostering national and political integration and unity in India. Unity is significant for building a strong nation and tackling the social challenges such as Drug Abuse. To give this day an impactful meaning, the NCC department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana organized a student-centered seminar on the theme ‘National Unity – Let’s Unite in Fight Against Drug Abuse’ on 31 st October 2025. The event was organized under the stewardship of Col R.S. Chauhan (Commanding Officer, 3 Pb. Girls Bn. NCC), College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal and Associate NCC Officer Captain (Dr.) Paramjeet Kaur. Around 125 NCC
Cadets of the college, Members of PI staff and college staff became part of this event. The aim of the event was to sensitize the young cadets about ill effects of drugs and to promote a drug free lifestyle in society.
NCC Cadets celebrated the day and delivered a strong message to be united in the fight against drug usage with the help of well-structured lecture and PowerPoint Presentation. NCC Cadets of the college Cadet Akshita, Under Officer Babli, Under Officer Nikita Gupta, Cadet Tamanna, and Cadet Sneha initiated their talk with discussion on various forms of drug abuse prevalent in our nation with special reference to Punjab. The cadets covered the topics of causes of drug abuse, how to break the cycle of drug users, national wise statistical data on drug abuse and specifically of Punjab, various initiatives taken by central/state governments and NGOs in this direction. The presentation came to a conclusion with discussion on the role of NCC cadets in this fight against drug abuse. The cadets also took a pledge on the theme ’Say no to drugs and yes to life’.
College Principal Dr (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal appreciated the efforts put in by NCC department. During her oration, she talked about real life incidents and cases of drug usage and motivated the cadets to say clear no to any form of drugs, if offered to them. She added that such seminars make the young generations more responsible and agile. Overall, the event was a successful endeavor in the series of activities focused at making future generations drug free.
