Khalsa College for Women organises Sitar Recital in collaboration with Spic Macay

The Music Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organised a musical event:
Sitar Recital in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, Ludhiana Chapter, The Vardhman Steels Classical
Series, The Spic Macay Heritage Club sponsored by Old School Association.
Music Maestros Pt. (Dr.) Harvinder Sharma, Sitarist and Vocalist (SNA Awardee) along with Pt. Jaidev
Ji (Tabla) were the star performers of the event. Madam Kushal Dhillon, member of managing
committee along with Director Dr. Mukti Gill graced the event. Ms Sangeeta Khushwaha Coordinator
Punjab Chapter of SPIC MACAY, National Executive SPIC MACAY and Ms Pooja Tuli Member of
SPIC MACAY Punjab Chapter were also present among the guests. Principals of sister institutions and
music teachers from various institutes also graced the event. Naira Fernandes Bhogal, clarinet player
from Spain was among the guests of the day. The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal extended a warm
welcome to the guests. The event kick started with shabad gayan and lamp lighting ceremony.
Pt. Harvinder Sharma ji played soulful renditions on his sitar mesmerising the audience. He performed
various ragas such as raag alahiya bilawal while also educating the audience on the classical musical
instrument sitar. The duo encouraged the youngsters to stay connected with Indian classical music.
The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal applauded the efforts of the entire staff for organising the event.
