The Eco Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized A Nature Fest on March 03, 2025 celebrating the beauty and therapeutic features of nature while promoting dialogue on nature conservation. The initiative was taken in collaboration with SOCH (Society
for Conservation & Healing of Environment, Ludhiana) where in a workshop on Bonsai making and Dish Gardening were conducted. The guests of the day were extended a warm welcome by Director Dr. Mukti Gill and Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal on their arrival in the campus. Environmentalist and President of the organization Dr. Balwinder Singh Lakhewali, along with
Environmental Horticulturist and Secretary of SOCH Dr. Brij Mohan Bhardwaj graced the event. Best out of waste and poster making competitions were organized wherein students participated enthusiastically showcasing their skills and knowledge at nature conservation.
S. Gurmukh Singh conducted the workshop beginning with the art of Bonsai making. He apprised the students about the varied aspects of Bonsai plant such as designing and maintenance of the plant. Mrs. Sunaina Mittal showcased an array of beautifully carved models of dish garden while educating about the intricacies of creating a dish garden. She showed gardens in miniature forms and emphasized about how it adds beauty, serenity and value to the life an individual. A stall by Rav Agro and Organo lite was put up to educate the students on growing button and oyster mushrooms. The highlight of the event was the participation of various self help groups and entrepreneurs such as Farmative, 5- AB Agro, Zaika, Noor, Arooj, Golden Arrow Bee, Homemakers, Kitchen Queens and Guntaas displayed a huge variety of home made organic Products such as handicrafts, honey, pickles, oils and organic fertilizer generating awareness on the organic food and its benefits.
Students from PAU, Ludhiana participated under the Experiential Learning Program showcasing hand curated silicon moulds of beeswax. Photography exhibition was another interesting feature where a nature photography was at display from the collection of Assistant
Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon. The Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal congratulated the
members of the Eco club for taking an initiative of raising awareness to enrich our lives through nature.
