Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign

KCW Counselling Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an ‘Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign’ on November 17th, 2022 to mark the ‘Drug Prevention and Treatment month’ as declared by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The campaign was focused around creating awareness of the ill effects and harm caused by drug consumption. The informative brochures were prepared by the volunteers of the Counselling Cell regarding the easy ways to spot the signs of drug abuse in their loved ones, how and what to say to them, followed by the immediate ways they can adopt to offer help to the ones in need. The campaign was flagged off in the morning assembly where the students and staff were informed about various aspects of substance abuse.

Later a march was carried out in various areas of Civil Lines with students holding placards and the volunteers distributed easy-to-understand pamphlets to the public and had discussions about the taboo topic. The march was aimed at sensitizing the community, including the rickshaw drivers, shopkeepers, and the common folk. Brochures and informative leaflets were put on display inside and outside the shops of the market.

The campaign received a positive response and support from the people, who put in an effort to listen to and understand the simplified yet useful information being provided by the volunteers.

The Principal appreciated the efforts of the Counselling Cell in sensitizing the students and the staff of the college along with the community  regarding ill effects of drugs on one’s health and informing them of the ways to deal with menace of drug abuse.
