KCW Girls shine in M.Com-I

The students of the Post Graduate Department of Commerce of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana excelled in the M.Com- Ist  semester , the result of which was declared yesterday. Shreya Gupta stood second in the university and first in the District with 87% marks. Sonali stood second and Sunakshi bagged third position in the college scoring 81.14%  marks and 79.42% marks respectively. Out of 43 students appeared in examination, 17 students scored more than 75% marks.            

” I believe in competing with oneself and being better each day. With God’s grace, parents’ support, teachers’ hard work and my will power, I have been able to achieve the same”, shared an elated Shreya.

               The Principal of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill along with the members of the Management congratulated the staff and students of the Department of Commerce and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.

KCW GIRLS SHINE IN MSC(IT) Ist Semester EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana achieved university positions in MSc(IT) first semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh.Meenakshi Goyal, the college topper who also bagged 6th position in the University scored  85.67 per cent marks while Parteet Asija who stood second in the college and clinched 9th position in University scored  84.83 per cent marks.. A majority of the students, whose result was declared by the University secured first division.

Toppers of the college, Meenakshi Goyal and Parteet Asija attributed their success to their hard work and punctuality. Besides this they remarked, that efforts of their faculty members coupled with the blessings and support of their parents and the college Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill have played an important role in their success.

Pritpal Singh Grewal, President, managing committee congratulated the College Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of Computer Science Department for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. K.C.W, M.A History Girls Shine In P.U Semester Exam

Girls of M.A History 1st Semester brought laurels to Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana. Harpreet Kaur scored 321 marks out of 400 securing First Position in Punjab University Semester Examination.

Anita got Fourth Position with 306 marks. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill congratulated the students for top honors as well as for 100% results. She also lauded the efforts of the History Department and encouraged the students to maintain such brilliant performance in Future.

LlT. FEST: “EXPLORING VISTAS” Concluded at KCW

The three day Literature Festival titled ‘LlT. FEST: EXPLORING VISTAS’ in collaboration with THE GREAT INDIAN BOOK TOUR by the English Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, witnessed many budding authors presenting interesting Book Talk sessions on its last day.

In the first session Ms Pournima Navani, the author of Lost Without Her raised concerns on the rising crimes against women in the country while discussing her book in detail. She urged that the parents should educate the boys more than the girls on issues of gender stereotypes prevailing in the society to curb the crimes against women. She also laid emphasis on sex education. The next session was taken over by Sonia Sahijwani, a lawyer by profession and author ofYour Legally, who apprised the audience that her book is a compilation of six short stories based on her personal experiences and observations in the field of law. She also advised the youngsters to overcome their phobias and pursue their dreams wholeheartedly.

The third session had Book Release Ceremony of Dr. Prabhleen Toor, Assistant Professor, Department of English of KCW. The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill along with Head, Department of English Ms. Sabina Bhalla and the guest Dr. Ashoo Toor Gill, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Languages, P.A.U, Ludhiana released the book titled ‘Random Scribbles’. The book is a compilation of thirty five poems based on authors’ observations and reflections on the world around.

 Author Shivram K. discussed his close association with his grandparents with reference to his book The Scorpion Grasses and recollected memories of his grandmother telling him stories. He credited his grandparents for inspiring him to be a story teller. In yet another interesting book talk Harinder Cheema, writer, poet, motivational speaker and author of The Temple Stop deliberated upon the life of soldiers their struggles and hardships. She also urged the youngsters to respect a soldier as they protect our borders so that we can lead comforting and happy lives.

The last session was taken over by Nidhi Kukreja, author of The Anonymous. She narrated journey of her writing the book and also advised the youngsters to battle grave issues like sexual abuse and raise voice against all the evils prevalent in society. The day was vibrant with thought provoking intellectual interactions, out of the box ideas and a lot of inspiration and motivation for all those who were a part of the fest. Adding to the charm was the Book Fair where students kept exploring their interest areas while buying new books and added new members to their home library.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill applauded the entire English Department on the Success of the literary fest.

KCW GIRLS BAG TOP UNIVERSITY POSITIONS IN MSC(IT) 3rd Semester PU EXAMINATIONS

The students of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana achieved top university positions in MSc(IT) third semester examinations, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Gurpreet Malhotra, the college topper who also bagged 2nd position in the University scored 89.1 percent marks whileTarika Jainwho stood second in the college and clinched 3rd position in University scored 88.1 per cent marks. All students, whose result was declared by the University secured first division.

Toppers of the college, Gurpreet Malhotra and Tarika Jain attributed their success to their hard work and punctuality. Besides this they remarked, that efforts of their faculty members coupled with the blessings and support of their parents and the college Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill have played an important role in their success.

KCW students achieved Eight University Positions in MA FINE ARTS 3rd Semester

Khalsa College for Women achieved outstanding results in M.A-III semester results of  which were declared by Panjab University on 4th March ,2020. Eight students of the college have placed their names in top ten University positions. Ritika Jain has bagged  1st University Position by scoring 375/400 marks (93.75%)., Harmanjot Kaur has bagged 4th position with 363/400 (90.75%)  , Manveer Kaur  has bagged 6th position with 360/400 marks (90%), Jaspreet Kaur has bagged 7th Position with 358/400 marks (89.50%), Heena Jain has bagged  8th position with 357/400 marks (89.25%) ,Harkirat Kaur has bagged 9th Position with 355/400 marks (88.75%), Annie Jain  and Manpreet Kaur has bagged 10th position with 353/400 marks (88.25%) .

KCW Students Achieved Positions in MA FINE ARTS 1st Semester

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana achieved outstanding results in M.A-1st semester which were declared by Panjab University on 12th Feb, 2020. Seven students of the college have placed their names in ten University positions. Sugandha Jain has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 377/400 marks (94.2%). Nikita Arora has placed 3rd in University with 369/400 marks (92.2%), Monika has bagged 4th position with 366/400 (91.5%), Jasmine Jawanda has bagged 5thth position with 364/400 marks (91%), Amrit Kaur bagged 6th position with 361/400 marks (90.2%), Rakhi Jain bagged 7th position with 355/400 marks (88.7%) and Niharika Jain bagged 8th position with 353/400 (88.2%).

Mantra evam Shalok Uchcharan

The Sanskrit Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a competition on ‘Mantra evam Shalok Uchcharan in the Department on 11th March, 2020. Around eight students participated in the competition. Participants deliberated upon the significance of Sanskrit language before the contest and then recited Mahamritanjaya mantra along with Ganesh Stuti. Students also exhibited their skills by reciting shalokas from Bhagwadgita.

Dr. Kamini Sahir from Hindi Department and Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma of Physics Department were the judges of the event. The other activities enriching the knowledge of Sanskrit were the centre of attraction. Asmita B.A I bagged first prize while Ashu B.A II and Kajal B.A III stood second and third respectively.

The Principal Dr. Mrs.Mukti Gill   applauded the entire staff and students of Sanskrit Department. Ms. Mandeep Arora HOD of Sanskrit extended thanks to the guests.

QUIZ CONTEST

The Geography Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized an inter-class quiz contest on 11th March 2020 in the Geography Department. Three teams namely Satluj, Beas and Raavi comprising students from B.A I, II and III respectively were the participating teams. There were five rounds in all. Questions pertaining to Physical Geography, Practical and general Geography, Locational Geography and Current Affairs were asked to which participants answered enthusiastically. Team Beas, B.A II was adjudged the winner of the contest.

The Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill gave away the prizes to the winners and applauded the efforts of entire Geography Department. She also motivated the Disaster Management Committee and Weather Forecast Committee (set up in the Geography Department) to keep up the good work.

KCW Shines At National Conference

Students of the department of biotechnology, Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, brought laurels to college through their excellent performance in 3rd National Conference on Innovation in Bioscience and Technology (NCIBT-2020) held at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala. Nehal and Sahibleen Kaur, students of BSc (Hons) Biotechnology Semester-4, won third prize in a poster presentation on ‘3D Bioprinting : A Novel Tool For Tissue Engineering.’ Principal, Dr. Mukti Gill and management of the college appreciated and congratulated the students on their achievement.
