World Heritage Day celebrated at KCW

The Post graduate Department of History of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme which aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through cultural connect and by celebrating World Heritage Day, the students showcased Indian world heritage sites recognised under UNESCO .On this occasion the students put forward the splendour and beauty of India through charts, models and and albums showing architectural marvels of India 35 students participated in the event. Chanpreet of class BA-II stood first second prize was bagged by Shubhi Jain of the same class, while Harpreet of class BA-I stood third. Consolation prizes were given to Sukhmanpreet, Janvi, Kritika.An exhibition of heritage items was also displayed by the students. The various items included coins of Medieval period and British era, bronze articles like glasses ,jugs, incense burners etc books ,bagh, fulkaari,old utensils ,jewellery etc,Dr. (Mrs) Reema Sharma, Head of music vocal department and Mrs. Rajbir Kaur assistant professor in the Department of English were the judges on this occasion .Principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill congratulated the winners and applauded the efforts of the history department she said that such events or necessary to create an awareness and understanding of our rich cultural heritage.

‘AMRAVATI DARSHAN’ held at KCW

The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry organized a cultural extravaganza under the title ‘Amravati Darshan’ on 21st April 2022. Around 50 students participated and performed in the event enthusiastically . Since the paired state for Punjab under EBSB is Andhra Pradesh; students were apprised about the various aspects of Andhra through the cultural programme.   Students performed ‘Lambadi’  a folk dance of the banjara tribe having its origin in the village of Andhra Pradesh. In the spicy treat activity students prepared  cuisines of the state such as Medu Vada, Biryani and Idli sambar etc. while apprising the audience about red chilly being a signature product of Andhra Pradesh. The state also wears a crown of being India’s largest exporter of Chilly. Students also put up a fashion parade showcasing various ethnic and traditional attires of Andhra Pradesh under the title Srimati Amravati.The USP of the initiative was to identify the unique culture and heritage of Andhra Pradesh  and enhance the cultural connect among the people of both the states. The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of the club members and urged the students to enrich themselves with the knowledge of rich culture and heritage  of the various aspects of their country.

KCW students achieved position in M.A.(FINE ARTS) 3rd Semester- Dec, 2021

The students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have achieved outstanding results in M.A.3rd Semester results of which were declared by Punjab University on April ’13th ‘ 2022. Six students of the college placed their names in Ten University Positions. Pooja got 1st University Position by scoring 393/400 marks (98.25%), Chitwan Kaur has been placed 2nd position in University with 391 /400 marks (97.75%), Pooja Rani got 3rd Position in University with 389/400 marks (97.25%), Mohini stood 4th in University with 385/400marks (96.25%), Monika bagged 7th Position in University with 374/400 marks (93.5%) and Megha Gupta got 9th Position in University with 365/400marks (91.25%). All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 88% marks. The prestigiousmanaging Committee Congratulated Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill and the staff of the Fine Arts Deptt. for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results. They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching Top University Positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

KCW Celebrates ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’

The Department of Sociology along with the volunteers of Rotaract Club celebrated ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ taking a dip into the various shades of two cultures from two states of the country. The paired state for Punjab under EBSB is Andhra Pradesh. The volunteers prepared a video presentation depicting the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’ and apprised the students about the culture, tradition and language of Andhra Pradesh by drawing contrast with punjab’s culture and language. The presentation was shared across all platforms.

 EBSB is an initiative by the Government of India which aims to enhance interaction, promote cultural connect and mutual understanding among people from varied regions of the country.

The Principal Dr. Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the volunteers and urged the students to enrich themselves with the knowledge of their nations’ rich cultural heritage.

K.C.W, M.A (Fine Arts) students Shine In P.U Semester Exam

Aditi and Manminder Kaur both   got 1st University Position by scoring 391/400 marks (97.7%), Jaspreet Kaur has been placed 2nd position in University with 383 /400 marks (95.7%), Sukhampreet kaur got 3rd Position in University with 378/400 marks (94.5%), Shilpa stood 5th in University with 374/400marks (93.5%),Amrit Kaur bagged 6th Position in University with 373/400 marks (93.2%),  Shivani got 9th Position in University with 368/400 marks (92%) and Shivani Kapoor Stood 10th in University with 365/400 marks(91.2%). All other students who had appeared in the examination have secured more than 87% marks. Closing Ceremony of 61st Annual Athletic Meet Held at KCW

The 61st Annual Athletic Meet of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana concluded in true sports spirit on April 13, 2022. Eminent personality, an effective administrator Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Department of Physical Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, presided over the function. He was accorded a warm welcome by the college managing committee, Madam Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, entire staff and the students at his arrival in the college premises.

Among the esteemed guests S. Gursimran Singh Grewal, Treasurer, Khalsa Deewan, Sdn. Kushal Dhillon, Manager, KCW & Sdn. Ravinder Kaur, Member, Khalsa Deewan graced the occasion. The guest of honour took the salute of the March Past being performed by students pursuing various courses. The participants proved their mettle in various final sports events including, 200mt. Race and Sack Race etc.

Acknowledging the achievements of students in the sports sector Madam Principal, while reading the Annual Report of the college highlighted that KCW stars bagged rich treasures of 37 Gold Medals, 31 Silver and 60 Bronze Medals this year in various sports competitions. She further added that our sportspersons reaped rich dividends in the form of cash prizes of approx. Rs. 4 Lacs in various sports competitions. She expressed immense gratitude to the members of Management of the college for their consistent cooperation in every way. She had a word of appreciation for the consistent efforts put in by Physical Education Department under the stewardship of Dr. Sukhpal Kaur (Head of Physical. Education Department) and the coaches. She thanked all the guests, for gracing the occasion, sparing their valuable time and making this event a great success.

Addressing the audience, the guest for the occasion discussed the importance of sports in life. He, further, said that the commendable achievements made by the students speak volumes of the efforts put in by the Physical Education Department of the college. Congratulating the organizers of the show the chief guest said that the students and the teachers sweat out throughout the year to clinch laurels. Acknowledging the budding talents, he awarded accolades to the winners.

     The Chief Guest was felicitated with a token of thanks by Madam Principal. Towards the culmination of the function, the soul of Panjabi Culture, Giddha and Bhangra were presented before the audience and the Chief Guest announced the closing of Athletic Meet.   Ashmina, B.A II was declared the Best Athlete of the college and Rupinder Kaur was declared the Best Player of the year.  The event met its conclusion with the beats of National Anthem.

Commencement of 61st Annual Athletic Meet at K.C.W

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, inaugurated two-day Annual Athletic Meet on April 12, 2022. Eminent Sports personality S. Baldev Singh, Dronacharya Awardee (Hockey), graced the event as chief guest. S. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary, Punjab Basketball Association was among the esteemed guests of the day. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, the college Managing Committee and the students extended a warm welcome at the arrival of the guests in the college premises. Madam Kushal Dhillon, Member Managing Committee, KCW, also graced the occasion. The meet kick started with the march past by the students. The guest of the occasion by taking the salute of march past and hoisting flag declared  opening of the Athletic Meet. Balloons of various hues rose merrily towards the sky mesmerizing the spectators and spreading the message to the participants to reach for the sky in their efforts.  An oath to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship was also administered by the students. In his address S. Baldev Singh, highlighted the importance of sports in life and added that apart from commemorating victories, sports events also impart lessons on discipline, sportsman spirit and camaraderie. A power packed Zumba performance was delivered by the students while spreading the message of health and fitness.

A unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and precision was showcased as participants strove to prove their best in various sports events which included 50-meter race, Spoon and Potato Race, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump, Three-legged race etc. The day was filled with exciting victories.

Health Checkup Camp held at KCW

Old Students Association, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized Health Check-Up camp in collaboration with Rotary Club of Ludhiana Midtown and Inner Wheel Club of Ludhiana Midtown under the able guidance of PP Rtn. Rajan Kapur, R’anne Anju Kapur(Project Directors),Rtn. Sunil Budhiraja(President of Rotary Club) and Vaneera Garg (President of Inner Wheel Club) on 11thApril, 2022. Dr. Sandeep Puri (Principal, DMC&H) was the chief guest. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill (Principal, Khalsa College for Women). Doctors from various fields including Gynaecology, Dentistry, Diet Consultancy, Psychiatry , Medicine and Dermatology provided free consultancy to approximate 500 students and staff (teaching and non teaching). Club members and stakeholders from sister institutions also availed the benefits of the camp.Tests like  blood sugar , hemoglobin , blood group, lung functioning etc. were also conducted free of cost.

Dr.Suman Puri (Prof. & Head of Unit & IVF Specialist DMCH), Dr. Neena Chawla and Dr. Bhawna Sachdeva offered their services related to Gynaecological problems. Alkem Laboratory also joined them for conducting lung functioning  tests. Dental check up was offered by Dr.Rajanbir Thind and Dr.Gurinder Kaur Thind. Dr.Vikas Loomba, Dr. Gaurav Sachdeva, Dr. A.S. Chawla , Dr. Sikander and Dr. RK Goyal provided general checkup. Skin care guidance was provided by Dr. Bimal Kanish andDr. Alpna Thakur. Dr. Sandeep Goyal (Psychiatrist) from SPS Hospital guided the students about stress management. Dr. Simrat Kathuria from “Diet Xepert” advised the students about the healthy diet to be followed. Camp was successfully organized, and  Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill thanked the entire team for their efforts.

KCW organized “Save Electricity Drive 2022”

The physics department at Khalsa College for Women civil lines Ludhiana, organized “Save Electricity Drive 2022” to raise awareness among students and staff to conserve energy and decrease global warming. For this purpose, the students of B.Sc strike a chord among people by presenting a skit to turn off their televisions, laptops, refrigerators, and other electrical devices when they are not in use at their homes or at offices. Different teams of students visited entire college premises, other nearby institutes, and also at various public venues to alert about saving electricity as it is a scarce and non -renewable resource.  They convey the message about mitigate global warming and conserve more energy if we use technology appropriately. Electricity has provided us a very comfortable life but we should not take it for granted.  Principal Dr. (Mrs) Mukti Gill and Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma (HOD Physics), appreciate the students for their initiative and bestow them with “energy-saving champions” badges.

ONE DAY TRIP TO NADA SAHIB, FUN CITY & RED MANGO

Fine Arts Department organized a one day trip to Chandigarh. [Nada Sahib, Fun city, Red Mango]. We departed from college premises at 7:00 am. on 3rd April. At first we visited to GURUDWARA NADA SAHIB, which is situated in the Sivalik Hills of Panchkula, Haryana at 9:40 am. which is very peaceful and a good place to witness the different activities to pertaining to the Sikh faith. Students seeked blessings of almighty and acquaint them with the significance of this holy place. We visited Sikh heritage museum which show cases the Sikh history. After Langar, we departed for Fun City at 10:45am. , where students enjoyed thrilling rides in Amusement Park and after lunch we got relief from scorching heat, students enjoyed over 20 hydraulic rides. Departing from Fun City at 6:50pm., we arrived Red Mango at 8:30 pm., where we had dinner and DJ Party. Departed from Red Mango at 10:30pm. , We arrived college at 11:00 pm.
