KCW Students Achieved Positions in MA FINE ARTS 1st Semester

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana achieved outstanding results in M.A-1st semester which were declared by Panjab University on 12th Feb, 2020. Seven students of the college have placed their names in ten University positions. Sugandha Jain has bagged 1st University Position by scoring 377/400 marks (94.2%). Nikita Arora has placed 3rd in University with 369/400 marks (92.2%), Monika has bagged 4th position with 366/400 (91.5%), Jasmine Jawanda has bagged 5thth position with 364/400 marks (91%), Amrit Kaur bagged 6th position with 361/400 marks (90.2%), Rakhi Jain bagged 7th position with 355/400 marks (88.7%) and Niharika Jain bagged 8th position with 353/400 (88.2%).

The prestigious managing committee congratulated Madam Principal Dr. Mrs Mukti Gill and the staff of Fine Arts Department for their sincere efforts in generating excellent results.

They applauded the students for maintaining the tradition of the college in clinching University positions and also wished them luck to continue to scale greater heights in life.

Mantra evam Shalok Uchcharan

The Sanskrit Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a competition on ‘Mantra evam Shalok Uchcharan in the Department on 11th March, 2020. Around eight students participated in the competition. Participants deliberated upon the significance of Sanskrit language before the contest and then recited Mahamritanjaya mantra along with Ganesh Stuti. Students also exhibited their skills by reciting shalokas from Bhagwadgita.

Dr. Kamini Sahir from Hindi Department and Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma of Physics Department were the judges of the event. The other activities enriching the knowledge of Sanskrit were the centre of attraction. Asmita B.A I bagged first prize while Ashu B.A II and Kajal B.A III stood second and third respectively.

The Principal Dr. Mrs.Mukti Gill   applauded the entire staff and students of Sanskrit Department. Ms. Mandeep Arora HOD of Sanskrit extended thanks to the guests.

QUIZ CONTEST

The Geography Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized an inter-class quiz contest on 11th March 2020 in the Geography Department. Three teams namely Satluj, Beas and Raavi comprising students from B.A I, II and III respectively were the participating teams. There were five rounds in all. Questions pertaining to Physical Geography, Practical and general Geography, Locational Geography and Current Affairs were asked to which participants answered enthusiastically. Team Beas, B.A II was adjudged the winner of the contest.

The Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill gave away the prizes to the winners and applauded the efforts of entire Geography Department. She also motivated the Disaster Management Committee and Weather Forecast Committee (set up in the Geography Department) to keep up the good work.

KCW Shines At National Conference

Students of the department of biotechnology, Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, brought laurels to college through their excellent performance in 3rd National Conference on Innovation in Bioscience and Technology (NCIBT-2020) held at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala. Nehal and Sahibleen Kaur, students of BSc (Hons) Biotechnology Semester-4, won third prize in a poster presentation on ‘3D Bioprinting : A Novel Tool For Tissue Engineering.’ Principal, Dr. Mukti Gill and management of the college appreciated and congratulated the students on their achievement.

KCW ORGANISES “QUEEN OF SALES”

The department of Business Management of Khalsa College for Women organised a marketing event “Queen of Sales- 3” today. The main idea of the event was to teach the nuances of personal selling and understanding of consumer behaviour among the participants. A total of 46 teams from different departments of the college participated in the event. Each team was given a set of 35 articles which they had to sell within duration of 3 hours. The teams had to contribute a portion of their income as taxes – the amount of which would be further utilised to teach them the sense of social responsibility.  The judges for the event were Dr Priyaka Khanna, Mrs Davinderpal Kaur, Dr Paramjit Kaur and Ms Neetika. The team of BBA –III was declared 1st, while that of  B.Com was declared second and that of BBA –II was third.

The college principal. Dr Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the Department of Business Management in organising this mega event and taking initiative in instilling activity based learning among the students.

‘Safe Driving Saves Lives’, a Campaign

The Rotaract Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana, organized an awareness campaign promoting ‘Traffic Rules and Road Safety’ on 6th February, 2020. The Rotaract members held placards with a motto ‘Safe Driving Saves Lives‘, and raised awareness about the safety measures which should be practiced while driving. The campaign was carried out in and around the campus to apprise the students about the significance of wearing helmets while driving.

The club members also interacted with the students and discussed the importance of carrying license and other important documents at all times while driving to avoid inconvenience.

The Principal Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill applauded the team work of the club and motivated them to keep their spirits up and keep working and contributing towards society while making it a better place for coexistence.

ELOCUTION COMPETITION AT KCW

The Department of Economics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized 54th A.D Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition sponsored by Forum of Free Enterprise on 12th September 2018.The competition provided a platform to the students to think and speak on various economic issues besides enabling them to display their oratory skills. The function was presided over by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill. The judges of the competition were Mrs. Harminder Kaur (Deptt. of English),  Ms. Paramjeet Kaur (Deptt. of Commerce) and Mrs. Shikha Verma (Deptt. of Computer Science). As many as 10 students participated in the competition and expressed their views on the topics like Challenges of Moving towards Cashless Economy, Skills Development for Employment Growth, Combating Pollution & Improving Quality of Life, Modern Technology for Enhancing Agricultural Productivity and Health Care Mission – Issues & Challenges. The participants were judged on the basis of content, presentation and elocution. Ms. Nikita of B.A. I , Ms. Deepkawal of B.A. III and Ms. Garima of B.A. I were declared first, second and third respectively. Two consolation prizes were given to Ms. Navya of B.A. III and Ms. Deeksha of B.A. I. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of the Department and appreciated the students for presenting their thoughts on various issues pertaining to our economy. She motivated them to be the harbinger of change that they want to see in their world.

KCW Organized Educational visit

Department of Biotechnology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana organized an Educational tour to National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), and CIAB (Centre of Innovations and Applied Bio Processing), Mohali, autonomous institutes of DBT,Govt of India .The visit was exclusively meant for imparting knowledge on various research areas in the field of Biotechnology. Students learned the techniques viz. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC); Gas Liquid chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMs); Liquid chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS); Protein purification, Plant Tissue Culture and demonstration of working of equipments such as Lyophilizer, Refractometer, Sonicator, PCR , Fermentors along with Computational Biology System. College Principal, Dr.(Mrs) Mukti Gill appreciated and motivated the Biotechnology Department for further such activities in future.

KCW organizes Math’s Mania 2018

The Deptt. of Mathematics of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an exhibition cum competition of charts and models on Saturday where Principal Mam Dr (Mrs.) Mukti Gill presided over the same. In exhibition students enthusiastically presented their creative work with various charts and models based on entire range of maths. The mania was the panorama of students’ talents and aspirations. For the same Anoop Kawar Kaur was adjudged as 1st, Yashika Dhingra and Savita as 2nd, Riya and Simran as 3rd and Nikita Arora was awarded with consolation prize. The winners were awarded by Mam Principal, judges for the event and Head of the Deptt.

The Principal acknowledged the laborious efforts put in by the faculty in training and polishing the creativity of the students. Such activities are a platform for students to perform confidently and this exhibition is a tiny pursuit to celebrate their creativity she added.

Connect, Communicate and Care To Prevent Suicide and Foster Happiness

 

Synapse Community Club and Counselling Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a Suicide Prevention Drive, to mark the World Suicide Prevention Day. The Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill, flagged off a rally to spread awareness about suicide prevention.  An informative brochure about Suicide Prevention and handy tips to deal with such emergency situations was also released. The students participated enthusiastically to spread awareness about the subject through posters, presentations and videos. Further they also visited various educational institutes of the city to spread this message of connecting & communicating to show care and thus prevent suicide.
