EMOTIONAL REGULATION WORKSHOP BY DR. NAYANIKA SINGH

The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organized a one-day workshop on Emotional Regulation by Dr. Nayanika Singh, Mental Health Consultant, Internationally Certified Mindfulness Practitioner and Emotional Freedom Therapy Coach. There were 64 participants from the Department of Psychology. The resource person Dr. Nayanika Singh introduced the concept of emotions and significance of their regulation in dealing with challenges in their daily life.

She highlighted the various Emotional Regulation strategies like mindfulness, cognitive reappraisal, deep breathing, physical exercises and positive affirmations. These were further elaborated in through practical activities and participants were made proficient in their conceptual and practical usage.

The participants were also apprised of various steps towards Emotional Regulation. The participants were told to begin with Name the Emotion, Validate the Emotion, Identify triggers, Mediation or Mindfulness, Talking through emotion, Journaling, Notice when you need a break, Good sleep hygiene and Consider therapy.

The workshop concluded with the techniques of relaxation therapy and use of GSR machine to achieve Progressive Muscle Relaxation goals.

The Principal appreciated the efforts of faculty of Psychology Department in Providing opportunity to the students for skill development and experiential learning of theoretical concepts in pursuit of holistic education.
