Under the aegis of IQAC, the Post Graduate Departments of History and Punjabi organised a One Day National Seminar on the Topic: “Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji: Defender of Religious Liberty and Human Dignity” on Jan 30, 2026 in the College Auditorium.
The seminar was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the members of Management, Dr. Mukti Gill, Director of the college, Madam Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, Dr. Narinderjit Kaur, Head Dept. of Punjabi and Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Head Dept. of History. Madam Principal accorded a warm welcome to the guests of the day. To commemorate the martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, a research journal was released during the inaugural session of the seminar. The Keynote speaker Dr. Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University highlighted the historical significance of Guru ji’s martyrdom which was a supreme sacrifice for the upliftment of human race. The Guest of Honour Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Former Vice- Chancellor, Central University H.P. sensitized the audience
The Guests were honoured with a token of gratitude by Madam Director, Madam Principal and members of Managing Committee.
During Technical session 1 Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Head Dept. of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University discussed the significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji’s bani and its relevance in present day life. Dr. Savinderpal Kaur, Principal, Kamla Nehru College For Women, Phagwara reflected upon the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, His supreme sacrifice for humanity and His Bani which was a beacon light for the lost humanity. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, ICHR applauded the efforts of the college for successfully organising the seminar. He further provided insight into the various programmes of ICHR which help the researchers in their projects.
During Technical Session 2 Dr. Jasbir Singh, Head, Dept. of History , Panjab University Chandigarh and Dr. Baljit Singh Head Dept. of History, GHGK College, Gursar Sadhar engaged the audience with their deliberations upon the selfless sacrifice of Guru Ji which was not only for one particular community but for the upliftment of the humanity. To pay tribute to Guru Ji’s 350 years of martyrdom research papers were presented about His teachings, His Bani and His sacrifice which not only guided the lost souls but also directed them towards a disciplined life.
The Seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Ramandeep Kaur , Head Dept. Of History wherein she expressed her gratitude to ICHR for giving this opportunity to the college for organising this seminar that highlighted the moral teachings of HIND DI CHADAR : Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
