Inauguration and Basant- Bahaar Celebration at KCW

The vibrant hues of Basant-Bahaar adorned the premises of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, as the Department of Music was all set to host a celebration steeped in melody and tradition, along with the inauguration of new Music Department. Scheduled on 02nd February 2026, the auspicious occasion was graced by Treasurer, Khalsa Dewan – S. Gursimran Singh Grewal, along with Director, Dr. Mukti Gill and Principal, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Grewal

Under the leadership of the Department of Music, both vocal and instrumental talents converged, showcasing their artistry and dedication. The students of the institute graced the stage with their rendition and filled the atmosphere with harmony and rhythm. Dr. Reema Sharma, Head, Dept. of Music, enlightened the students about the rich heritage of Raag Basant, fostering a deeper appreciation for our cultural legacy. This was followed by vocal and instrumental recitals by the students. There were several performances by students. The celebration commenced with Saraswati Vandana along with some other performances like, Shabad in Raga-Basant.

 This initiative was aimed to instil a profound sense of cultural understanding among the students by emphasizing the significance of the Basant and the Baithak system in our collective consciousness.

Principal Dr. Kamaljit Kaur Grewal appreciated the efforts of the Department of Music and encouraged the students to participate in such activities as it will enhance their knowledge and skills and keep them rooted in their culture and tradition.
