KCW Celebrated National Science Day 2023

National Science Day 2023 was celebrated as SciAmalgum 2023 at Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana with “Global Science for Global Wellbeing” as focal theme of the programme. The occasion featured a number of activities put on by several science disciplines. To provide young brains with the chance to better comprehend scientific principles, the Physics department held a Science Model Exhibition on cutting-edge ideas on contemporary pursuits. The students wonderfully depicted the beauty of the subject through different scientific experiments and phenomena. They made working models on Lie detectors, earth quake alarms, Automatic street lights, hydraulic breaks and projects based on renewable sources like wind and solar energy from low cost eco-friendly products and waste materials.  The main aim of the exhibition was to explore and encourage scientific talent and creative thinking among students and to develop an understanding about the role of science and technology to meet the needs of the society. Department of medical streams organised Rangoli competition under the theme ‘One Earth, One Planet, One Family’. Ms. Vandana Malik and Ms. Ashu  were the esteemed judges for the event.  Rangolis were made by 13 teams, out of which Tanisha and Aradhna grabbed the first position, Rajdeep and Harman scored the second position, and Tanya and Shreya held third position.  Consolation position was grabbed by Harman and Mariya. In the competition ‘Cooking without fire’ with a theme ‘Food for Healthy Lifestyle’  9 teams of B.Sc. medical, non medical and biotech participated. The honourable judges were Dr. Prabhleen and Dr. Amrinder Caur. First position was bagged by  Tarunpreet Kaur and Shruti Sachdeva, Ridhi Chopra and Surpreet Kaur scored the second position and Prachi and Gunika grabbed third position. Department of Chemistry choreographed “Science through Dance”. In which the students highlighted the importance of science in day to day life and its priceless role in enhancing the quality of human life. Mathematics department also organised a poster presentation competition. The students brought their book lessons to life through practical experience and demonstrated the same to the audience as well. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill also appreciated the students and motivated them to participate in more such events.
