National Voters’ Day is observed to commemorate the foundation of the Election Commission of India and to promote electoral awareness among citizens, especially the youth. The day highlights the importance of voting as a fundamental right and civic duty in a democratic nation.
To mark the occasion, the NCC Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, in collaboration with 3 PB Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, observed National Voters’ Day at the college campus. The event was organized with the theme “My Vote, My Future”, aiming to create awareness among NCC cadets about the significance of voting and to encourage active participation in the democratic process.
The programme began with an informative session where cadets emphasized the importance of ethical, informed, and responsible voting in strengthening democracy. Through a well-structured lecture, cadets highlighted the role of young voters in nation-building and discussed how every vote contributes in shaping the future of the nation.
The atmosphere became inspiring as cadets took the Voters’ Pledge, committing themselves to uphold democratic values and to exercise their rights to vote responsibly, fearlessly, and without discrimination.
Addressing the cadets, Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal stated that such awareness programmes help young citizens understand their democratic rights and responsibilities. She encouraged the cadets to act as ambassadors of democracy by motivating others to participate in the electoral process.
The event concluded with a strong message of civic responsibility, leaving the cadets motivated to contribute towards building a strong, inclusive, and vibrant democracy.
