Semi-Classical Song Competition held at KCW

Department of Music Vocal, Khalsa College For Women, Civil
Lines, Ludhiana organised an Inter – Class Semi-Classical Song
Competition under the able guidance of Mrs. Reema Sharma
(H.O.D- Music Vocal) on Saturday. Music Students from classes BA1, BA2 and BA3 participated and showcased their talent. The students sang hindi film songs based on Ragas such as Bhupali,Deshkar, Yaman Kalyan, Bhairavi,Tilak Kamod, Pahadi and Nand. Deepika Pandey from class BA2 made a presentation and apprised the students about “The Importance and use of Ragas in Indian Film-Music”. Mrs. Rama Bhagat (Dept. of
Music Inst.) and Mrs. Harpreet Kaur (Dept. of Music Vocal)acted as judges. 1 st , 2nd, 3rd and a consolation prize were declared and trophies were distributed to the winners by worthy Principal Dr. Mukti Gill.

The Mangaing Committee of the College and Principal Dr.Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts of students and teachers of Music Vocal Department. She further advised the students upon the need to maintain a balance between academics and co-curricular activities and congratulated all the winners.
