LEGAL AWARENESS THROUGH SKITS AT KCW

Legal Literacy Club of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana organized an Inter-Departmental Skit competition with the objective of creating awareness among students on Legal Rights in Civil Disputes through enactment on 26th April 2022. Learned personality Sh. P. S. Kaleka, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest of the event.Advocate Amit Sharma and Prof. Sabina Bhalla, Head, Department of English were the judges of the competition. Students from various departments showcased their talent through power packed performances on the themes of “Sexual Harassment at Work Place”, “Role of Mediation Centre in Matrimonial Disputes”, “Right of Women in Ancestral Property”, “Domestic Violence” and “Cyber Crime”. After the competition, there was an interactive session wherein Sh. P.S. Kaleka satisfactorily answered queries of students regarding legal issues related to domestic violence, sexual harassment at work place and matrimonial disputes. Team from English department won the first prize whereas team from Department of computer science bagged second prize and department of commerce, third prize. Ashish Kaur bagged Best Performer award. Second individual prize was shared by Simarleen and Nitya whereas third individual prize was bagged by Vanshita and Livanshi. The principal of the college, Dr. Mukti Gill, applauded the efforts of the Legal Literacy Club and urged the students to be aware of their legal rights in order to gain confidence and keep life’s problems at bay.
