Organized a mental health awareness drive

Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Drive

Managing Difficult Conversations and Creating Hope

September 10, 2025

Department of Psychology and KCW Counselling Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil

Lines, Ludhiana organised a mental health awareness drive to mark the Suicide Prevention

Day on September 10, 2025. The program commenced with the inauguration of an awareness

rally by the Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal from the college grounds. The volunteers held

placards and brochures and shared them with other students and members of the community.

The aim was to highlight the significance of talking about the subject in order to reduce

stigma around such uncomfortable issues. They propagated open conversations along with

education on mental health and shared resources so as to spread the word and promote

support for those affected.

Thereafter, various groups of students went to different departments of the college with

special informative brochures for the heads of the departments and teachers. They aimed to

sensitize them on how to help individuals in crisis, and provide them with various tips on

language to use and correct questions to ask.

The Director Dr. Mukti Gill and the Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal appreciated the

enthusiasm of the volunteers of Counselling Cell for raising awareness and fostering a

supportive environment for various mental health issues for the benefit of the students and the

community.
