The Corridors resonated with laughter and traditional beats as Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana celebrated āTeeyan Da Mela: Raunak Dheeyan Diā to mark Teej Festival pursuing Punjabiyat fervor around the surroundings on August 8, 2025. The post graduate department of Punjabi organised the show that was marked an array of cultural & heritage handicrafts, traditional utensils, Bagh, phulkari, Darian, Sandhookh and traditional ornaments etc. Sealing the attention of the guests and students the real image of Punjabiyat was framed with decorated Charkhas and Pakhis. Students also participated in various competitions such as phulkari, mehandi art, mitti de khidone, tokri making, khido and Gudian Patole among others.
Ms. Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, SDM, Ludhiana east was the Chief Guest of the Event. Padam Shri Madam Nirmal Rishi along with Madam Kushal Dhillon, Manager KCW, graced the event as Guests of Honor. The cultural extravaganza was also graced by prominent personalities of the College Management Committee Madam Ravinder Kaur, Madam Manmeet Kaur Grewal, Director Dr. Mrs. Mukti Gill and retired teachers from different departments were among the esteemed guests of the day. College Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal extended a warm welcome to the guests of the day. Dr. Narinderjeet Kaur, Head of Punjabi Department in her address apprised about the significance of Teej festival and stressed upon the need to keep the young generation connected to their cultural heritage and tradition. Girls wearing Traditional Punjabi Dresses, Paranda, and Jewellery, were the center of attraction.
The occasion was thoroughly beamed with the presence of celebrities. In the cultural bonanza, Singing Sensation Inder Waraich enthralled the audience. Traditional Teej singing by Sardar Navjot Singh Mandair with his team also mesmerized the audience with his soulful performances. His playing traditional instruments such as Sarangi, dotara, Algoja, dhad etc. added another dimension to the festivity. It is an initiative of the institute to keep students connected to the punjabi culture and tradition. College students performed brilliantly presenting Giddha and Skit .
The stunning and illustrious stalls were put up in the college adding flavour to the occasion. Stalls of bangles, traditional ornaments, clothes and cosmetics with many other delicacies of punjabi culture were adorned with the motive to magnify the cultural Heritage of Punjab. The event offered variety of foods along with famous Dishes of Saawan Season ā Mal Poore, Kheer, Jalebi & Pakoras and Tonga ride was enjoyed by the youngsters. They also enjoyed the Swings along with fun sports such as kikli, rope skipping, kokla chapaki, geete khedna, shatapu etc. Arshdeep Kaur M.A I Punjabi was adjudged Gidhiyan di Rani and Kulvir Kaur M.A II Punjabi was decorated with the title of Ms. Teej.
Madam Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, applauded the role of the organizers of the show and admired the energetic participation of the guests and the students and strengthened all of them to continue the journey of building up Punjabiyat among the students. The event turned out to be a memorable one and gave it the shade of grand family celebrations.
