ICHR Sponsored One Day National Seminar at KCW

Under the aegis of IQAC, the Post Graduate Departments of History and Punjabi organised a One Day National Seminar on the Topic: “Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji: Defender of Religious Liberty and Human Dignity” on Jan 30, 2026 in the College Auditorium.

The seminar was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the members of Management, Dr. Mukti Gill, Director of the college, Madam Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, Dr. Narinderjit Kaur, Head Dept. of Punjabi and Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Head Dept. of History. Madam Principal accorded a warm welcome to the guests of the day. To commemorate the martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, a research journal was released during the inaugural session of the seminar. The Keynote speaker Dr. Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University highlighted the historical significance of Guru ji’s martyrdom which was a supreme sacrifice for the upliftment of human race. The Guest of Honour Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Former Vice- Chancellor, Central University H.P. sensitized the audience

The Guests were honoured with a token of gratitude by Madam Director, Madam Principal and members of Managing Committee.

During Technical session 1 Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Head Dept. of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University discussed the significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji’s bani and its relevance in present day life. Dr. Savinderpal Kaur, Principal, Kamla Nehru College For Women, Phagwara reflected upon the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, His supreme sacrifice for humanity and His Bani which was a beacon light for the lost humanity. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, ICHR applauded the efforts of the college for successfully organising the seminar. He further provided insight into the various programmes of ICHR which help the researchers in their projects.

During Technical Session 2 Dr. Jasbir Singh, Head, Dept. of History , Panjab University Chandigarh and Dr. Baljit Singh Head Dept. of History, GHGK College, Gursar Sadhar engaged the audience with their deliberations upon the selfless sacrifice of Guru Ji which was not only for one particular community but for the upliftment of the humanity. To pay tribute to Guru Ji’s 350 years of martyrdom research papers were presented about His teachings, His Bani and His sacrifice which not only guided the lost souls but also directed them towards a disciplined life.

The Seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Ramandeep Kaur , Head Dept. Of History wherein she expressed her gratitude to ICHR for giving this opportunity to the college for organising this seminar that highlighted the moral teachings of HIND DI CHADAR : Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Visit to Vardhman Miyawaki Forest, PAU, Ludhiana

Botanical Society, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana organized an exposure visit for B.Sc. Medical students to Vardhman Miyawaki forest located at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. This forest is designed to replicate a natural habitat through the Miyawaki methodology. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand experience of sustainable forestry practices and foster a deeper understanding of ecological balance and biodiversity. The students were apprised of the Miyawaki method, pioneered by Japanese Botanist Akira Miyawaki, focusing on creating dense, native forests that require support local biodiversity with minimal maintenance. Launched under the CSR initiative of Vardhman Special Steel and facilitated by EcoSikh, the forest includes over 42 native species including kikkar, kachnaar, silk cotton, arjun, tahli, lasuda etc.

Mr. Amit Dhawan (Head CSR), Mr. Harnek Singh (Executive CSR) Mr. Vijay Sharma (Executive HR/Admn) and Mr. Satman Singh (Forest maker, Ecosikh) held informative interactions with students regarding the Japanese technique of creating diverse and multilayered forest.  This visit provided an insightful opportunity for B.Sc medical students to explore the indigenous species of trees. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the forest, engage with nature, and observe the dense plantation. The rich diversity of flora fascinated the students, providing them with a tangible understanding of the Miyawaki methodology.

Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal expressed her profound appreciation for Vardhman Special Steels’ visionary initiative, emphasizing that it not only makes a significant contribution to ecological restoration but also serves as an invaluable educational platform for the students and future generations.

KCW NCC Department Observes National Voters’ Day

National Voters’ Day is observed to commemorate the foundation of the Election Commission of India and to promote electoral awareness among citizens, especially the youth. The day highlights the importance of voting as a fundamental right and civic duty in a democratic nation.

To mark the occasion, the NCC Department of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, in collaboration with 3 PB Girls Battalion NCC, Ludhiana, observed National Voters’ Day at the college campus. The event was organized with the theme “My Vote, My Future”, aiming to create awareness among NCC cadets about the significance of voting and to encourage active participation in the democratic process.

The programme began with an informative session where cadets emphasized the importance of ethical, informed, and responsible voting in strengthening democracy. Through a well-structured lecture, cadets highlighted the role of young voters in nation-building and discussed how every vote contributes in shaping the future of the nation.

The atmosphere became inspiring as cadets took the Voters’ Pledge, committing themselves to uphold democratic values and to exercise their rights to vote responsibly, fearlessly, and without discrimination.

Addressing the cadets, Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal stated that such awareness programmes help young citizens understand their democratic rights and responsibilities. She encouraged the cadets to act as ambassadors of democracy by motivating others to participate in the electoral process.

The event concluded with a strong message of civic responsibility, leaving the cadets motivated to contribute towards building a strong, inclusive, and vibrant democracy.

Seventh Day of NSS special camp at Khalsa College for Women

The seven-day NSS Camp concluded successfully on 14th January with great enthusiasm, reflection, and a strong sense of achievement among the volunteers. The final day marked the culmination of a journey filled with learning, service, discipline, and personal growth.

The day began with the gracious presence of our respected Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, and Mrs. Sabina Bhalla, HOD of the English department at the vibrant cultural fest organized by the NSS unit. The event showcased the talents of the volunteers through a graceful semi-classical dance by Damini, energetic Gidda by Ekam and Mani, and a skit performed by Gurveer, Yashika, Diksha, Pushti, Mehak, Arshpreet, Joti, Harnoor, Bhoomi, and Himanshu. Volunteers also shared their experiences and learnings from the camp, making the event meaningful and a soulful shayari by Gurveer, The performances continued with an energetic Bhangra by Tanishqa, lively Haryanvi dance by Stuti Sharma and Nisha, and concluded with a traditional Luddi by Ishnoor, filling the atmosphere with joy, applause, and the spirit of NSS.

Later the respected Principal Dr. Kamaljeet Garewal addressed the NSS volunteers and motivated them with inspiring words. The Principal appreciated the dedication, discipline, and active participation of the volunteers throughout the camp and also thanked the NSS in-charges for their guidance and tireless efforts in making the camp a success.

The cultural program was followed by a prize distribution ceremony recognizing the outstanding efforts of the volunteers in various competitions. In the PPT presentation, first position was secured by Damini, Monika, and Kareena; second position by Mehak, Kamali, Diksha, Pushti, Ridhima, Yashika, and Bhumi; and third position by Ekamjot Kaur, Arshdeep Kaur, and Anmoljeet. Other participants who received individual prizes included Yashika, Dhani, and Rajni Tiwari, Anmoljeet Kaur. In Poster-making winners were Vicky, Anmoljeet and Aarti Kumari, Khushboo pandit. All winners were appreciated for their creativity, clarity of expression, and commitment to social awareness.

 The titles of Best Volunteer and Best Coordinator were awarded to Manjari and Preeti_ respectively, honoring their exceptional dedication and leadership throughout the camp. All the volunteers were appreciated for their creativity, clarity of expression, and commitment to social awareness, making the ceremony a truly inspiring conclusion to the camp

The ceremony served as a moment of recognition for the hard work and creativity of the volunteers, motivating them to continue contributing positively to society.

The NSS Camp concluded on a patriotic and emotional note with the singing of the National Anthem, filling everyone with pride, unity, and a renewed sense of responsibility towards the nation.

Inauguration of 7-Days Annual Special NSS Camp in Khalsa College For Women.

The 7-Days Annual Special NSS Camp was inaugurated on 8th January, 2026 marking the first day of camp at Khalsa College For Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana with great enthusiasm and devotion. The programme commenced with the recitation of Shabad, creating a spiritual and disciplined atmosphere. The Director Dr. Mukti Gill and the Principal of the college Dr. Kamaljeet Garewal formally welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, S. Devinder Singh Lotey, who motivated the students and encouraged NSS volunteers to actively participate in social service and nation-building activities and S. Lakhvir Singh also addressed the NSS volunteers having a fun and open one to one interaction  along with that he shared his valuable thoughts, motivating them to work selflessly for the welfare of society. The NSS song was melodiously sung by the volunteers, reflecting the spirit of unity and service. 

The Principal of the college inspired the students with her motivating words and warmly welcomed the NSS volunteers, appreciating their dedication and commitment towards community service. As a gesture of respect and environmental responsibility, saplings were presented to the esteemed guests.

In connection with Traffic Awareness Month, Ms. Kajal singh from children Traffic park conducted an awareness session. she educated the volunteers about the importance of following traffic rules and encouraged them to become responsible citizens and spread awareness among the public. On the other hand Mr. HC Jasvir Singh from the Traffic Police, Ludhiana, educated volunteers about road safety And cyber crime. The speaker explained simple yet crucial rules of road safety. The session majorly focused on cybercrimes, where volunteers were made aware of online frauds, fake links, cyberbullying, the session helped students understand how staying alert and informed can keep them safe both on the roads and in the digital world.

After the formal sessions, a lunch break was observed. The evening session included the formation of various committees to ensure smooth conduct of camp activities. An interactive ice-breaking session was also organised to help volunteers bond with each other and work effectively as a team.

The inaugural day of the NSS camp concluded on a proud and patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the end of a meaningful day filled with learning, motivation, and enthusiasm for the upcoming days of service and social engagement.

Organic Apni Mandi (6-12-2025)

Gardening club, Khalsa College for Women, Civil lines, Ludhiana set up a stall of organic fruits
and vegetables under the theme “Organic winter greens – Apni mandi”. Organic fruits and
vegetables like lemon, spinach, coriander, fenugreek, etc. which are raised in college nursery
were distributed among the students and staff members to promote organic farming paving the
way for a healthier population and sustainable future. Principal Dr. Kamaljit Grewal and Director
Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill applauded the efforts of gardening club for such initiatives.

NCC Cadets Celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day

Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year to honor and salute our brave veterans for their selfless service and valiant deeds, and to reaffirm our solidarity with the Armed Forces personnel who stand as the guardians of our freedom. Upholding this noble spirit, the NCC Cadets of Khalsa College for Women celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day with remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and patriotic zeal on 7th December 2025.
The cadets actively participated by collecting donations through the sale of tokens and flags. Their wholehearted involvement reflected a deep sense of duty and commitment towards national service. With sincere efforts and generous contributions, the cadets successfully raised funds for the Flag Day Fund—an act that symbolizes their respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by soldiers. The collected amount was remitted to the District Defence Services Welfare Office, Ludhiana. These funds are utilized for the welfare of families of soldiers who laid down their lives in battle, and for disabled and needy ex-servicemen and their dependents who face hardships in earning a livelihood.
College Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamaljit Grewal appreciated the exemplary efforts of the NCC Department and the cadets. She emphasized that many service personnel endure life-altering disabilities in the line of duty, while countless gallant soldiers make the supreme sacrifice to protect the nation’s honor. She added that such initiatives not only strengthen our bond with the Armed Forces but also inspire the younger generation to uphold values of courage, discipline, and national pride.
She further remarked that the cadets’ dedication demonstrates how youth can play a meaningful role in nation-building. Their service reinforces the message that honoring our soldiers is not just a duty, but a collective responsibility of every citizen.

KCW student wins First Prize in the Punjab State Inter Varsity Youth Festival 2025

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana added another remarkable achievement to its legacy by securing the First Prize in Mimicry at the Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival 2025, held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, from 30 th November to 3 rd December, 2025.
Rupali Sharma, a student of B.Sc. III Non-Medical, brought laurels to the college with her outstanding performance, showcasing exceptional talent in the Mimicry competition. The event was organised under the Punjab State Inter-Varsity Youth Festival, which witnessed participation from 21 universities across the state. The festival hosted a wide range of competitions, including classical music, vocal music, western music, folk dance, classical dance, quiz contests, debates, plays, skits, poster making, collage making, and more—providing a vibrant platform for students to exhibit their artistic skills.The members of the Managing Committee appreciated the dedication and hard work of the faculty and students involved in this achievement.

Dr. Mukti Gill, the Director, and Dr. Kamaljit Grewal, the Principal of the college, congratulated Rupali Sharma and the Mimicry Team for this outstanding accomplishment and for bringing pride to the institution.

WHEN COURAGE TAKES SHAPE OF SKILL – LEARNING

The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana, organised an interactive session with the students of Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind, Ludhiana to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2025. The main objective was to promote awareness, sensitivity, and inclusivity towards persons with disabilities, while also helping students understand real world challenges and strengths of differently abled individuals.
During the visit, the students interacted with visually impaired trainees who were actively engaged in various skill-development activities such as Braille learning and reading, weaving, and playing musical instruments. The staff of the centre oriented the students about the functioning of the institute, the training modules offered, and the role of vocational education in fostering independence and self-reliance among persons with visual impairment.
The visit allowed students to witness how adaptive technologies and structured training enable visually impaired individuals to perform daily tasks with remarkable precision. The interactions were deeply inspiring, as the students observed the confidence, determination, and discipline with which the trainees approached their learning. The faculty members highlighted the importance of empathy, accessibility, and respect while working with vulnerable populations, especially within the field of psychology.
Towards the end of the visit, the centre’s instructors conducted a brief demonstration on Braille reading techniques and mobility training, encouraging students to understand the lived experiences of visually impaired individuals. The students expressed that this exposure enriched their understanding of disability rights and the psychological needs of this community.
The Principal, Dr. Mrs. Kamaljit Grewal, appreciated the initiative taken by the Psychology Department for promoting awareness. She emphasized that such experiences nurture sensitivity among young learners and contribute to building a society where every individual regardless of ability receives equal respect, opportunity, and support.

KCW shines in Panjab University Results of B.A Sem 2

The students of Khalsa College for Women, civil lines, Ludhiana made the college proud by clinching 6 University Positions in the result declared for B.A 2nd semester on Nov.21,2025. Gurpreet Kaur and Khushi shared 3rd position in University by securing 8.83 CGPA. Komalpreet scored 8.54 CGPA and is placed on 10th position whereas Navleen Kaur, Manya Sehgal and Sukhman bagged 17th, 18th and 19th position respectively by scoring 8.25, 8.21& 8.17 CGPA. The students are grateful to their teachers and their alma mater for timely guidance and unwavering support.
